Pär Aron Borg
Pär Aron Borg (4 July 1776 – 22 April 1839) was a Swedish language, Swedish educator and a pioneer in the education for the Blindness, blind and deaf. Biography Borg was born in the parish of Avesta in Dalarna, Sweden. After studies at Uppsala University (1796–1798), he became a secretary in the Central Government Office () in Stockholm. After having seen a play where a deaf boy communicated by gestures, he was inspired to create a manual alphabet. He began to educate deaf and blind students regularly in 1808. Following the example of''Institut National de Jeunes Sourds de Paris, l'Abbé de l'Épée'' founded by Charles-Michel de l'Épée in Paris, in 1809 he founded (Public Institute of the Blind and Deaf at Manilla; Manillaskolan). The institution received support from Queen Hedwig Elizabeth Charlotte of Holstein-Gottorp, Hedwig Elizabeth Charlotte (1759–1818).   ('Manilla School'), before 1879 ('Public Institute for the Deaf and Blind at Manila'), is a Swedish state school for Visual impairment, blind, Deafness, deaf and hard of hearing children, founded by Pär Aron Borg in 1809. Until the autumn term 2013, the school was located at Djurgårdsvägen on Djurgården, Södra Djurgården in Stockholm. Johanna Berglind
Johanna "Jeanette" Apollonia Berglind (21 August 1816, in Stockholm – 14 September 1903, in Stockholm), was a Swedish sign language teacher and principal. In 1860, she founded one of the first schools for the deaf and mute in her country: '' Tysta Skolan'' (Silent School) in Stockholm. Biography Johanna Berglind became an orphan early in life and was adopted by a widow: from about the age of ten, she was the ward of a relative of her late mother, Per Aron Borg, who was the pioneer of the education of deaf and mute in Sweden and the founder and principal of Manillaskolan (originally , 'Public Institute of the Blind and Deaf') in Stockholm. Ossian Edmund Borg (6 August 1812 – 10 April 1892) was a Swedish teacher of the deaf and head of the Manillaskolan school for the deaf. He was the son of Pär Aron Borg, pioneer of deaf schooling in Sweden. Life and work Borg was born 6 August 1812 in Hedvig Eleonora Parish, Stockholm, Sweden, to Pär Aron Borg, three years after his father founded (Manillaskolan), the first school for the deaf in Sweden. Borg began his studies in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1832; he had decided on the medical field and was ready to take his bachelor's degree in medicine when his studies were interrupted due to the death of his father in 1839.
