Pál Bedák
Pál Bedák (born September 8, 1985 in Budapest) is a Boxing, boxer from Hungary best known to win the silver medal at the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships, 2005 World Championships. His older brother Zsolt Bedák is a bantamweight boxer. At his international debut Bedák won the European Cadet Championships in 2002. As a junior, he won the European Junior Championships (2003) and the Junior World Championships (2004), where he beat future world champion Sergey Vodopyanov in the final. Bedák won the bronze medal at the 2004 European Amateur Boxing Championships, 2004 European Championships in Pula. Light Flyweight
Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. The World Boxing Council (WBC) decided to resurrect this division in the 1970s. The first champion in this division was Franco Udella, who won the WBC title in 1975. Károly Balzsay (born 23 July 1979) is a Hungarian former professional boxer who competed from 2004 to 2012. He won the WBO super-middleweight title in 2009 by defeating Denis Inkin, making one successful defence before losing to Robert Stieglitz later that year. Zsolt Erdei (born 31 May 1974) is a Hungarian former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2014. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the WBO and lineal light-heavyweight titles from 2004 to 2009 (making eleven consecutive defences against ten different opponents), and the WBC cruiserweight title from 2009 to 2010. Erdei is the first boxer from Hungary to win world titles in two weight divisions. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal in the middleweight division at the 2000 Olympics. Boxing At The 2008 Summer Olympics
The boxing program of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China was held at the Workers Indoor Arena. Medals were awarded in eleven events, with each event corresponding to a recognized weight division of male boxers. The 2008 games were the last Olympic boxing competition to exclude women, as the International Olympic Committee approved the introduction of female boxing events for the 2012 London Olympics. Like other Olympic combat sports, two bronze medals are awarded; in the case of boxing, both losing semi-finalists receive a bronze medal, with no further play-off. As a result, the quarter-final essentially equates to a bronze medal match, a semi-final to a silver medal match, and the final to a gold medal match. 44 medals are therefore available, 22 of which are bronze medals.
