Pyongyang Skatepark
Pyongyang Skatepark ( ko, 평양 로라스케트장) is the first skatepark in North Korea. It was opened in November 2012 and is contained within the Ryugyong Health Complex. The skatepark includes half-pipes, ramps, grind rails and a track. Half-pipe
A half-pipe is a structure used in gravity extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, freestyle BMX, skating, and scooter riding. Overview The structure resembles a cross-section of a swimming pool, essentially two concave ramps (or quarter-pipes), topped by copings and decks, facing each other across a flat transition, also known as a ''tranny''. Originally half-pipes were half sections of a large diameter pipe. Since the 1980s, half-pipes contain an extended ''flat bottom'' between the quarter-pipes. The original style half-pipes are no longer built. Flat ground provides time to regain balance after landing and more time to prepare for the next trick. A grind rail is an object used by skateboarders to do skateboarding tricks on such as grinds and slides. It is usually square or round. There are two types of rails: * Handrail, a normal handrail on the sides (or the middle) of a stair * Flatbar, a rail that is not kinked and is on the ground, not on any stairs or ramps It is also commonly used in freestyle skiing, skiers perform tricks off and onto a rail and also while grinding it.
