Pussyole (Old Skool)
"Pussyole (Old Skool)" also known as just "Pussyole" and cleanly as just "Old Skool", is the second single taken from British rapper Dizzee Rascal's third studio album ''Maths + English'', and eighth overall. It reached #22 on the UK Singles Chart and topped the UK Indie Singles Chart for a week. The word "pussyole" is a slang term for someone who is weak and unwilling to back up their friends during confrontation. Wiley The song is rumoured to be a diss to former friend Wiley of the Roll Deep crew, with whom he had a conflict, which made Dizzee (who was once a member) leave the crew. Wiley responded to the song in a video circulating on YouTube, in which he also takes jabs at rappers Kano and Lethal Bizzle, and then later with the track "Letter 2 Dizzee", from his album '' Playtime Is Over'', to try to end the rift between them. Kaine Brett Robinson (born 21 May 1985), better known as Kano, is a British rapper, songwriter and actor from East Ham, London. A significant contributor to grime music, he is widely considered one of the pioneers of grime music and culture, alongside artists such as Wiley and Dizzee Rascal. Definitive Jux was a record label based in New York City. It was co-founded in 1999 by El-P and Amaechi Uzoigwe. History Definitive Jux was initially known as Def Jux. However, popular hip hop label Def Jam Recordings sued Def Jux over the name similarity in 2001. This lawsuit was settled out of court and the name was officially changed to Definitive Jux. In February 2010, El-P announced that the label, although it will carry on selling its catalog and merchandise, would be put "on hiatus" as a traditional record label, and that it would be going through some changes in order to keep up with the evolution of the music industry. "Think (About It)" is a funk song recorded by Lyn Collins and released as a single on James Brown's People Records in 1972. The recording was produced by Brown (who also wrote the song) and features instrumental backing from his band The J.B.'s. It was the title track of Collins' 1972 debut album. The song is very popular for its raw drumbeat dressed with tambourine and multiple background vocals, which suggest the song was recorded altogether in one take, with Jabo Starks playing drums. It peaked at No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' Best Selling Soul Singles chart and No. 66 on the Hot 100. Owing to the composition, it became a fan favourite and has been featured on various compilation albums posthumously. The Think break is a drum break that has been widely sampled in popular music. It comes from the 1972 song "Think (About It)" by the American soul singer Lyn Collins, written and produced by James Brown. The drum break was performed by John "Jabo" Starks. Background and impact In 1987, "Think (About It)" was featured on the 16th volume of the drum break compilation '' Ultimate Breaks & Beats'', a highly popular series among hip hop producers.
