Purple Party
The Purple Party ( es, Partido Morado, PM) is a centrist, liberal and progressive Peruvian political party. The color purple was chosen to represent the blending of red and blue, the colors of left and right-wing parties in Peru, symbolizing the centrist ideology of the party. History On 17 October 2016, Julio Guzmán led the First Purple Summit in Lima, Peru, announcing the organization's first steps towards making a party. More than 1,000 individuals participated in establishing guidelines for the political movement. At the Second Purple Summit (October 14–15, 2017), held in Cusco, with the participation of more than 1,000 national representatives, the presentation of their file for party registration with the corresponding Peruvian body was reported. On 18 November 2017, the party was officially founded. Julio Guzmán
Julio Armando Guzmán Cáceres (born 31 July 1970) is a Peruvian economist, politician, and leader of the Purple Party who ran for President in the 2021 Peruvian general election, 2021 general elections getting just over 2% of valid votes. He was formerly the leader of the All for Peru political party, running for president for the party in the 2016 Peruvian general election, 2016 general elections, but was disqualified, due to the irregularities of the nomination process. Early life and education Julio Armando Guzman Caceres was born on July 31, 1970, in Lima. He is the second youngest of 12 children. His father, an architect by profession, came to Lima from the rural province of Anta Province, Anta in the Cusco Region. His mother is from Celendín, Celendin in the Cajamarca Region. Francisco Rafael Sagasti Hochhausler OSP ( (); born 10 October 1944) is a Peruvian engineer, academic, and author who served as the President of Peru from November 2020 to July 2021. Sagasti has worked as an advisor for economic development at the International Development Research Centre, World Bank, UNCSTD and the World Economic Forum. Daniel Olivares (politician)
Daniel Federico Olivares Cortés (born 7 June 1981) is a Peruvian communicator and politician. A member of the Purple Party, he currently serves in the Peruvian Congress' complementary term 2020-2021 to finish the 2016-2021 term that was interrupted by the dissolution of Congress by Martín Vizcarra. Early life and education Olivares was born in Lima in 1981, to Federico Olivares Pflücker and Teresa Cortés Massa. He completed his elementary education at the Immaculate Heart School, and high school at the Santa María Marianistas School. 2020 Peruvian Protests
The 2020 Peruvian protests were a series of demonstrations sparked after the removal of President Martín Vizcarra that took place from 9 November to 17 November 2020. The controversial removal of Vizcarra was recognized as a coup d'état by many Peruvians, political analysts and media outlets in the country. Protests were registered in several cities of the country, to show their outrage at the president's vacancy and reject the inauguration of the president of Congress, Manuel Merino. Manuel Arturo Merino de Lama (born 20 August 1961) is a Peruvian politician who briefly served as President of Peru for six days between 10 and 15 November 2020. He also served as the President of Congress from 16 March 2020 to 15 November 2020. He was a Member of Congress ( AP) representing the Tumbes constituency for the 2001–2006, 2011–2016, and 2020–2021 terms. On 9 November 2020, the Congress impeached and removed President Martín Vizcarra from office on the grounds of "moral incapacity", a vague term dating back to the 19th century, relating to "mental incapacity" or "mental retardation".
