Liberal Bench
Liberal Bench ( es, Bancada Liberal) was a Peruvian parliamentary caucus formed by Francesco Petrozzi during the 2016–2019 term of the Peruvian Congress. The group was introduced on December 19, 2018, by congressman Alberto de Belaúnde and was formally recognized that same day by President of Congress Daniel Salaverry. Its members are former members of the political parties Peruvians for Change and Popular Force. The caucus was formally dissolved in the aftermath of the constitutional dissolution of the Peruvian Congress issued by President Martín Vizcarra on 30 September 2019, leading to the Permanent Assembly where the caucus was represented by congressman Gino Costa only. Gino Costa
Gino Francisco Costa Santolalla (born 27 January 1956) is a Peruvian politician who is an Independent Congressman caucusing with the Purple Party, representing the constituency of Lima. He previously served as Interior Minister in the Cabinet of Peru from 2002 to 2003 a United Nations official, president of the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) and deputy defender for human rights and people with disabilities of the Ombudsman's Office. Education He studied law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, completed a master's degree in development studies at the University of East Anglia in 1983, and then completed his MPhil and PhD (1987) in international relations at Queens' College, Cambridge. The Purple Party ( es, Partido Morado, PM) is a centrist, liberal and progressive Peruvian political party. The color purple was chosen to represent the blending of red and blue, the colors of left and right-wing parties in Peru, symbolizing the centrist ideology of the party. Martín Alberto Vizcarra Cornejo (; born 22 March 1963) is a Peruvian engineer and politician who served as President of Peru from 2018 to 2020. Vizcarra previously served as Governor of the Department of Moquegua (2011–2014), First Vice President of Peru (2016–2018), Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru (2016–2017), and Ambassador of Peru to Canada (2017–2018), with the latter three during the presidency of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
