Punahou School
Punahou School (known as Oahu College until 1934) is a private, co-educational, college preparatory school in Honolulu, Hawaii. More than 3,700 students attend the school from kindergarten through twelfth grade, 12th grade. Protestant missionary, Protestant missionaries established Punahou in 1841. In 2006, it was ranked the greenest school in America. In 2017, Punahou's sports program was ranked second nationally in the MaxPreps Cup standings. Punahou's student body is diverse, with student selection based on both academic and non-academic considerations. History In 1795, King Kamehameha I took the land known as ''Ka Punahou'' in battle. Along with Ka Punahou, he gave a total of of land (from the slope of Round Top to the current Central Union Church, which included a tract of Kewalo Basin) to chief Kameeiamoku, Kameeiamoku as a reward for his loyalty. Buster Crabbe
Clarence Linden Crabbe II (; February 7, 1908 – April 23, 1983), known professionally as Buster Crabbe, was an American two-time Olympic swimmer and film and television actor. He won the 1932 Olympic gold medal for 400-meter freestyle swimming event, which launched his career on the silver screen and later television. He starred in a variety of popular feature films and movie serials released between 1933 and the 1950s, portraying the top three syndicated comic-strip heroes of the 1930s: Tarzan, Flash Gordon, and Buck Rogers. Early life Crabbe was born in 1908 to Edward Clinton Simmons Crabbe, a real estate broker, and Lucy Agnes (née McNamara) Crabbe, in Oakland, California. Brandon Brooks
Brandon Brooks (born August 19, 1989) is a former American football guard who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at Miami (OH) and was drafted in the third round by the Texans in the 2012 NFL Draft. He played four seasons with the Texans, including three as a starter. In 2016, he joined the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency. He played for six seasons with the team, winning Super Bowl LII and making three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2019 in the process. He retired after missing 31 combined regular season games over the next two seasons due to injuries. Brandon Brooks (water Polo)
Brandon Brooks (born April 29, 1981), who played water polo as a goalie for UCLA and the 2004 and 2008 United States National teams, was the head coach of the women's water polo team at UCLA until 2017. The women's team won the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship, and one of his players, Courtney Mathewson, captured the Peter J. Cutino Award as the player-of-the year in 2008. On June 3, 2009, Brooks was named the head coach of the UCLA Bruins women's water polo team, having served as its men's and women's water polo team assistant coach. He was also named as an assistant coach to the USA water polo women's senior national team for the 2009 FINA World Championships. Early years Brooks is the oldest in his family of three children. Sean Kern
Sean Kern is an American water polo player. His position is center forward (two-meter offense). During his water polo career, Kern was a four-time All-American, two-time National Player of the Year, two-time NCAA champion and three-time UCLA scoring leader. After his 1999 season, Kern was honored as the first-ever male recipient to receive the Peter J. Cutino Award. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, he scored 3 goals for the US team. Christopher Duplanty
Christopher David "Chris" Duplanty (born October 21, 1965, in Palo Alto, California) is a former water polo goalkeeper from the United States, who competed in three Summer Olympics (1988, 1992 and 1996) for his native country. He won the silver medal with the US Men's National Team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. In 2001, he was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame. Erik Shoji
Erik Thomas Shoji (born August 24, 1989) is an American professional volleyball player. He is a member of the US national team, a bronze medalist at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and the 2018 World Championship, 2014 World League and 2015 World Cup winner, and the 2022 Champions League winner. At the professional club level, he plays for ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Personal life Shoji's parents are Dave and Mary Shoji. His older brother Kawika Shoji is also a player (setter), the former member of the US national team. Career Shoji was a member of the Men’s Junior National Team in 2008 and 2009. Michael Lambert (volleyball)
Michael Allen Lambert (born April 14, 1974, in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American volleyball player, who was a member of the United States men's national volleyball team that finished in ninth place at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia and eleventh at the 2000 Olympics. Lambert was born in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He went to Punahou School along with Stein Metzger. His subsequent partnership with Metzger in the AVP resulted in 9 titles. Lambert graduated from Stanford University in 1997 with a degree in political science. He and fellow AVP player Matt Fuerbringer were members of the 1997 NCAA National Championship team for volleyball. Christel Simms is from Ewa Beach, Hawaii and was a college swimmer who attended the University of Southern California. Chris Woo
Christopher W. T. Woo (born December 25, 1957) is an American former competition swimmer and world record-holder. He represented the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. Woo competed in the final of the men's 100-meter breaststroke and finished eighth in a time of 1:05.13.
