Pumaqucha (Yauli)
Pumacocha (possibly from Quechua ''puma'' cougar, puma, ''qucha'' lake,) is a lake in Peru located in the Junín Region, Yauli Province, Yauli District. It is situated at a height of approximately , about 5.144 km long and 0.95 km at its widest point. Pumacocha lies northwest of a lake named Huallacocha (possibly from in Quechua ''Wallaqucha'') and southwest of the town of Yauli. The Pumacocha dam was completed in 1942. It is long and high. Quechua (, ; ), usually called ("people's language") in Quechuan languages, is an Indigenous languages of the Americas, indigenous language family spoken by the Quechua peoples, primarily living in the Peruvian Andes. Cougar
The cougar (''Puma concolor'') is a large Felidae, cat native to the Americas. Its Species distribution, range spans from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes in South America and is the most widespread of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere. Yauli Province
The Yauli Province is one of the nine provinces in Peru that form the Junín Region. It is bordered to the north by the Pasco Region and the Junín Province, to the east by the Tarma Province, to the south by the Jauja Province and to the west by the Lima Region.
