Pulse Of The Early Brain
''Pulse of the Early Brain'' is a compilation album by the English-French avant-pop band Stereolab, released on 2 September 2022 under Duophonic Records and Warp Records. It is the fifth installment of the band's "Switched-On" series which collects the band's rarities, such as the EPs ''Simple Headphone Mind'' (1997) and '' Low Fi'' (1992); bonus and exclusive tracks from ''Chemical Chords'' (2008); and individual tracks from other albums, split singles and flexi discs. Unlike previous "Switched-On" releases, which compiled each of the band's eras in chronological order, ''Pulse of the Early Brain'' covers rarities from all over their career. The compilation was announced with the release of the single "Robot Riot" in June 2022 and the singles "Simple Headphone Mind" and "Trippin With the Birds" in August. Stereolab
Stereolab are an Anglo- French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990. Led by the songwriting team of Tim Gane and Lætitia Sadier, the group's music combines influences from krautrock, lounge and 1960s pop music, often incorporating a repetitive motorik beat with heavy use of vintage electronic keyboards and female vocals sung in English and French. Their lyrics have political and philosophical themes influenced by the Surrealist and Situationist movements. On stage, they play in a more feedback-driven and guitar-oriented style. The band also draw from funk, jazz and Brazilian music, and were one of the first artists to be dubbed "post-rock". They are regarded among the most innovative and influential groups of the 1990s. Stereolab were formed by Gane (guitar and keyboards) and Sadier (vocals, keyboards and guitar) after the break-up of McCarthy. The two were romantically involved for fourteen years and are the group's only consistent members. Other longtime members included ...

Too Pure
Too Pure was a London-based independent record label formed in 1990 by Richard Roberts and Paul Cox. The label gained prominence after the release of PJ Harvey's debut album '' Dry'' in 1992, and subsequently found further success in the late 1990s and early 2000s with albums by indie rock artists such as Mclusky and Electrelane. The label was closed in 2008. History Too Pure started off as an experimental label and built its reputation by releasing primarily alternative/independent music which its founders felt was being ignored by major labels. At its inception Too Pure was largely preoccupied by the so-called Camden Lurch scene, through its 'Sausage Machine' night in North London (documented by its ''Now That's Disgusting Music'' (1990) compilation). The label discovered PJ Harvey but was struggling to hold on to the artist after the success of single " Sheela Na Gig", as an industry feeding frenzy brought in a host of major labels. Eventually Too Pure secured UK release r ...

It was named one of the 10 best live music venues in America by ''Rolling Stone'' magazine in 2018. Cybele's Reverie
''Cybele's Reverie'' is an EP by English-French rock band Stereolab, released on 19 February 1996 by Duophonic Records. Its title track serves as the lead single from their fourth studio album '' Emperor Tomato Ketchup''. The four-track EP is the only one by Stereolab on which none of the songs are in English: the title track, "Brigitte", and "Young Lungs" are in French, and "Les Yper-Yper Sound" is an instrumental. The title track was voted number eleven on John Peel's Festive Fifty for 1996. All four of its tracks were re-released on the ''Oscillons from the Anti-Sun'' compilation. Composition "Cybele's Reverie" itself is an early fade of the album version, and "Les Yper-Yper Sound" is a radically different arrangement of the album track "Les Yper-Sound". "Brigitte" pays tribute to Brigitte Fontaine, whom the band would later collaborate with on the single "Caliméro".
