Jaguas is a barrio in the municipality of Ciales, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 4,545. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Jaguas barrio (Jagua as it was called then) was 1,264. Sectors Barrios (which are roughly comparable to minor civil divisions) in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (''sectors'' in English). Torrecillas is a barrio in the municipality of Morovis, Puerto Rico. Torrecillas has eight sectors and its population in 2010 was 623. A USDA Rural Development field office is located on the Torrecillas side of Sector La Línea on PR-6622. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Torrecillas barrio was 572. Hurricane Maria hit on September 20, 2017, and six months later a community, of about 300 residents in Torrecillas, reported their electrical power had not yet been restored. Morovis Norte is a barrio in the municipality of Morovis, Puerto Rico. Morovis Norte has about 15 sectors and its population in 2010 was 3,546. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Morovis Norte barrio was 821. (Red Bridge) at kilometer 50 on PR-155 and over the Indio River in Morovis Norte, leads to the expressway and to Morovis barrio-pueblo, the downtown area with the municipal buildings and a number of stores. Fránquez is a barrio in the municipality of Morovis, Puerto Rico. Fránquez has twelve sectors and its population in 2010 was 4,583. Ciales, Puerto Rico
Ciales (, ) is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico, located on the Central Mountain Range, northwest of Orocovis; south of Florida and Manatí; east of Utuado and Jayuya; and west of Morovis. Ciales is spread over eight barrios and Ciales Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Toponym Sources diverge on the origin of the Ciales name. Nineteenth-century historian Cayetano Coll y Toste stated that it was named as such by then-governor Gonzalo de Aróstegui Herrera in honor of General Luis de Lacy, who had gone against Ferdinand VII's absolutist wishes. Coll y Toste suggested that the Villa Lacy name came from the anagram "es-la-cy" anagram. Puerto Rico Highway 149
Puerto Rico Highway 149 (PR-149) is a secondary highway in Puerto Rico that connects the towns of Manatí in the north coast of Puerto Rico, from PR-22 to Juana Díaz in the south coast, ending at PR-1. It goes through Ciales, and is a divided highway and a wide rural highway between that municipality and Manatí, as it is also from Juana Díaz to Villalba. From Ciales to Villalba, it is an extremely dangerous mountain road, with very high areas and poor safety barriers. From Ciales to Villalba it passes through the Salto de Doña Juana, a spot with a small waterfall and a small creek where people can jump and swim. It is one of the longest highways going south to north, perhaps the longest excluding PR-1 and PR-52. The highway also makes intersections with PR-2 just 2 kilometers south from its beginning in PR-22, and an intersection with PR-52 about 8 kilometers north from the terminus at PR-1. Ciales barrio-pueblo is a barrio and the administrative center ( seat) of Ciales, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 1,009. As was customary in Spain, in Puerto Rico, the municipality has a barrio called ''pueblo'' which contains a central plaza, the municipal buildings (city hall), and a Catholic church.
