Puerto Obaldía
Puerto Obaldía is the smallest and easternmost of the four ''corregimientos'' of the Kuna Yala indigenous region of Panama, located on the border with Colombia. This is a mainland area that does not contain any islands. It has an aerodrome with scheduled flights. There are no roads. At the census of population of 2000, the number was 672, of which 533 resided in the main town of Puerto Obaldía. Other settlements were ''La Miel'' (pop. 80), on the Colombian border, ''La Boca'' (pop. 31), and ''Playa Blanca'' (pop. 28). The main industry in Puerto Obaldía is Panamanian border and customs control. It is only some 10 miles from the Colombian border; boats connect it with Acandí, on the Colombian side. Guna Yala, formerly known as San Blas, is a ''comarca indígena'' (indigenous province) in northeast Panama. Guna Yala is home to the indigenous people known as the Gunas. Its capital is Gaigirgordub. It is bounded on the north by the Caribbean Sea, on the south by the Darién Province and Emberá-Wounaan, on the east by Colombia, and on the west by the province of Colón. Etymology Guna Yala in Kuna means "Land Guna" or "Guna Mountain". __NOTOC__ Puerto Obaldia Airport is an airport serving Puerto Obaldía, a Caribbean coastal town in the Guna Yala comarca (indigenous province) of Panama. Between 2008 and 2010, the deteriorated NW/SE runway was replaced with a longer, wider concrete runway 17/35. The runway runs uphill from the sea. Acandí
Acandí is a town in Colombia at the northern extremity of the department of Chocó in the northwest of Colombia, bordering Panama and the Caribbean Sea. It is from the department's capital, Quibdó. Its average temperature is . It was founded around the year 1887, and it became a municipality in 1905, previously being part of Turbo. The name "Acandí" is a corruption of the indigenous word "Acanti", which means "River of Stone". It is one of the constituent territories of the region of Darién, together with the towns of Unguía, Juradó and the municipality of Riosucio west of the Atrato river.
