Public Interest Law Clearing House
The Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) was a not-for-profit legal referral service, operated from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was founded in 1994, following the model of New York Lawyers for the Public Interest. PILCH coordinated pro bono legal assistance for Victorian not-for-profit organisations and individuals, to improve access to justice in Victoria by facilitating pro bono legal services to those otherwise unable to obtain it. On 1 July 2013, PILCH VIC and PILCH NSW merged to become a new organisation: Justice Connect. Justice Connect continues PILCH's mission, with some slight changes and modifications to the supported programs. New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, Inc. ("New York Lawyers" or "NYLPI" il-pee is a non-profit civil rights law firm located in New York City, specializing in the areas of disability rights, access to health care and environmental justice. NYLPI was founded in 1976 by eleven attorneys and nine law firms to meet the legal needs of underserved, underrepresented New Yorkers and their communities. This arrangement ultimately evolved into NYLPI's pro bono clearinghouse, which now matches volunteer lawyers from prestigious law firms and corporate legal departments with community groups and nonprofit organizations in need of legal services. The Victorian Bar is the bar association of the Australian State of Victoria. The current President of the Bar is Roisin Annesley KC. Its members are barristers registered to practice in Victoria. On 30 June 2020, there were 2,179 counsels practising as members of the Victorian Bar. Those who have been admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Victoria, are eligible to join the Victorian Bar after sitting an entrance exam and completing a Bar readers' course. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Racial And Religious Tolerance Act 2001
The ''Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001'' is an Act of the Parliament of Victoria, Australia, that makes behaviour that incites or encourages hatred, serious contempt, revulsion or severe ridicule against another person or group of people, because of their race or religion, unlawful in Victoria. The Act was passed during the premiership of Steve Bracks and went into effect on 1 January 2002. The Act also prohibits racist graffiti, racist posters, racist stickers, racist comments made in a publication, including the Internet and email, statements at a meeting or at a public rally.
