The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Select Committee, formerly the Public Administration Select Committee, is a select committee appointed by the British House of Commons to examine the reports of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, and to consider matters relating to the quality and standards of administration provided by civil service departments, and other matters relating to the civil service, mostly for England and Wales, and constitutional affairs. It is the principal select committee to which Cabinet Office ministers are accountable and thus handles pre appointment and accountability hearings for independent officers, with an independent civil society or cross departmental role, such as the First Civil Service Commissioner, the chair of the UK Statistics Authority and the chair of the Charity Commission. Andrew John Stevenson (born 4 July 1963) is a British Conservative Party politician and active solicitor and director for the firms Bendles and Tiffen Estate Agents, who was first elected at the 2010 general election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Carlisle. Early life Stevenson was state educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and graduated from the University of Dundee with Honours in History and Politics. Thomas William Randall (born 4 July 1981) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Gedling since the 2019 general election. Randall is a member of the 1922 Committee. Early life Randall was born and grew up in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, where he attended Redhill Academy. He studied law at Oxford University, going on to practise as a solicitor for two years. He worked for a professional membership body before becoming an MP. David Gordon Mundell, (born 27 May 1962) is a Scottish politician and solicitor who served as Secretary of State for Scotland from 2015 to 2019.
