Celaenorrhinini
The Celaenorrhinini are a tribe of spread-winged skippers in the skipper butterfly subfamily Pyrginae. When the Eudaminae were still included in the Pyrginae as a tribe, their delimitation versus the Celaenorrhinini was disputed, and there were even suggestions that the latter might belong in the former. But in reality, these two lineages of moderately advanced skippers are quite distinct. Some genera of the tribe Celaenorrhinini were also placed in the fairly closely related (but nonetheless distinct) tribe Tagiadini on occasion; '' Capila'' however has turned out to be properly placed there.Brower (2009) These skippers are mainly found in tropical Africa. A few are found in Asia, and some species presently placed in the (paraphyletic) type genus ''Celaenorrhinus'' are found in the Neotropics. The closest living relatives of the Celaenorrhinini are – other than the Tagiadini – the firetips, which were formerly treated as a subfamily but are nowadays considered the Py ...

was a Japanese entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera. He wrote ''Butterflies of Formosa Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), is an island country located in East Asia. He also published many scientific papers describing new species of butterflies. Dr. Takashi Shirozu was a professor emeritus of Kyushu University and president emeritus of The Lepidopterological Society of Japan. References *2004Obituary Takashi Shirôzu (1917-2004). Indomalayan Realm
The Indomalayan realm is one of the eight biogeographic realms. It extends across most of South and Southeast Asia and into the southern parts of East Asia. Also called the Oriental realm by biogeographers, Indomalaya spreads all over the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia to lowland southern China, and through Indonesia as far as Sumatra, Java, Bali, and Borneo, east of which lies the Wallace line, the realm boundary named after Alfred Russel Wallace which separates Indomalaya from Australasia. Indomalaya also includes the Philippines, lowland Taiwan, and Japan's Ryukyu Islands. Most of Indomalaya was originally covered by forest, and includes tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, with tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests predominant in much of India and parts of Southeast Asia. The tropical forests of Indomalaya are highly variable and diverse, with economically important trees, especially in the families Dipterocarpaceae and Fabaceae. Major ecol ...

Spread-winged Skipper
Pyrginae, commonly known as spread-winged skippers, are a subfamily of the skipper butterfly family (Hesperiidae). The subfamily was established by Hermann Burmeister in 1878. Their delimitation and internal systematics has changed considerably in recent years, but as of 2009 the uncertainties surrounding the evolutionary relationships of many genera in this subfamily are widely resolved.Brower & Warren (2008) It still is the second-largest subfamily of skipper butterflies, although of its over 1,000 species a considerable number are no longer in that classification. Description and distribution Spread-winged skippers bask with their wings held wide open. The wings are held closed when they are at rest. They are usually brown, black, or checkered, but some are brilliantly coloured. Some have long tailed hind wings.Daniels (2003): p.12 Males maintain territories and frequently perch on overhanging branches and tree trunks. They do not visit flowers for sustenance, but rather ...

Hesperiidae
Skippers are a family of the Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies) named the Hesperiidae. Being diurnal, they are generally called butterflies. They were previously placed in a separate superfamily, Hesperioidea; however, the most recent taxonomy places the family in the superfamily Papilionoidea, the butterflies. They are named for their quick, darting flight habits. Most have their antenna tips modified into narrow, hook-like projections. Moreover, skippers mostly have an absence of wing-coupling structure available in most moths. More than 3500 species of skippers are recognized, and they occur worldwide, but with the greatest diversity in the Neotropical regions of Central and South America.Ackery et al. (1999) Description and systematics Traditionally, the Hesperiidae were placed in a monotypic superfamily Hesperioidea, because they are morphologically distinct from other Rhopalocera (butterflies), which mostly belong to the typical butterfly superfamily Papilionoidea. The ...
