Prospect, Nova Scotia
Prospect is a Canadian coastal community on the Chebucto Peninsula in Nova Scotia, Canada within the Halifax Regional Municipality. It borders the Atlantic Ocean approximately southwest of Halifax off the Prospect Road ( Route 333). During the American Revolution, fishermen at Prospect captured an American Privateer and 23 crew members. In 2003, the town was hit by the eye of Hurricane Juan. Wind damage was substantial and storm surge washed away many wharfs and stages, but no homes. The area suffered significant land erosion due to the impact. Cannock Chase District
Cannock Chase is a local government district in Staffordshire, England. Its council is based in the town of Cannock; other notable towns are Rugeley, Bridgtown and Hednesford. The district covers a large part of the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from which it takes its name. The district was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of Cannock and Rugeley urban districts, along with Brindley Heath from Lichfield Rural District, and Norton Canes from Aldridge-Brownhills Urban District. Cannock, which covers around 30% of the population, includes the parish of Bridgtown but the rest of Cannock is unparished. Until the 2010 general election the parliamentary constituency of Cannock Chase consisted of Cannock Chase district plus the adjacent village of Huntington. Cannock Chase (), often referred to locally as The Chase, is a mixed area of countryside in the county of Staffordshire, England. The area has been designated as the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is managed by Forestry England. The Chase gives its name to the Cannock Chase local government district. It is a former Royal forest. Geology With the exception of the southeastern area, the Chase is almost wholly underlain by sandstones and conglomerates of the Chester Formation dating from the Triassic period. Formerly known as the Cannock Chase Formation, these form a part of the Sherwood Sandstone Group. Overlying these rocks in the Rugeley area are the, often pebbly, sandstones of the Helsby Sandstone Formation, formerly referred to in this area as the Bromsgrove Sandstone. Cannock Chase is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Amanda Milling of the Conservative Party. She served as the Minister for Asia and the Middle East in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from 16 September 2021 to 7 September 2022. Burntwood is a former mining town and civil parish in the Lichfield District in Staffordshire, England, approximately west of Lichfield and north east of Brownhills. The town had a population of 26,049 and forms part of Lichfield district. The town forms one of the largest urbanised parishes in England. Samuel Johnson opened an academy in nearby Edial in 1736. Hednesford (pronounced ) is a historic market town in the Cannock Chase (district), Cannock Chase district of Staffordshire, England. Cannock Wood is a village and civil parish in the Cannock Chase district of Staffordshire, England. The village is situated around east of Cannock, the same distance south of Rugeley, and north of Burntwood. According to the 2011 Census, the parish had a population of 1,031, a decrease from 1,052 in the 2001 Census. Cannock Wood makes up part of Cannock Chase which is a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its mainly residential area is interspersed with open areas including various parks and public footpaths through the local countryside.
