ProgPower UK is a progressive and power metal festival held annually in the United Kingdom since 2006. Its latest edition, which would have taken place in the Anson Rooms at the University of Bristol on 28 March – 29 March 2008, headlined by Evergrey and Vanden Plas Vanden Plas is the name of coachbuilders who produced bodies for specialist and up-market automobile manufacturers. Latterly the name became a top-end luxury model designation for cars from subsidiaries of British Leyland and the Rover Group, ..., was cancelled due to financial difficulties. History ProgPower UK was a one-day event for its first two years (although a smaller pre-show party was held each year the day before the main festival) and is expanding to a two-day event in 2008. It began in 2006, and was held in Cheltenham at The Centaur, a large modern venue on the grounds of Cheltenham Racecourse. Thunderstone (band)
Thunderstone is a power metal band from Helsinki, Finland. The band was formed in 2000 by guitarist Nino Laurenne and the line-up became complete in the following year. After the release of the band's self-titled debut album, '' Thunderstone'', the band toured Europe supporting Stratovarius and Symphony X. Thunderstone released its first four albums through Nuclear Blast; however, their album '' Dirt Metal'' was released in October 2009 under Sony Music label. History Thunderstone was formed in early 2000 by ex-speed/thrash Antidote guitarist Nino Laurenne as a project; his first demo was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios. Heed (band)
Heed was a Swedish heavy metal band founded in 2004 by ex-Lost Horizon members Daniel Heiman (vocals) and Fredrik Olsson (guitar). They were joined by drummer Mats Karlsson and bass player Jörgen Olsson, and began recording on their debut album ''The Call''. It was released in Japan on October 21, 2005 and in Europe on 14 June 2006. When ''The Call'' was completed, Jörgen and Mats left Heed because their musical visions and goals collided with those of the founding members. Cloudscape is a melodic metal band from Helsingborg, Sweden. Dreamscape is a progressive metal band from Munich, Germany. History Origins Dreamscape was founded by Wolfgang Kerinnis (lead guitarist) and Stefan Gassner (rhythm guitarist) in 1986. After numerous changes in the line-up, Tobi Zoltan (singer), Andreas Angerer (drummer) and Benno Schmidtler (bass guitarist) were hired to perform full-time with them. Leaves' Eyes is a symphonic metal band from Germany and Norway. They were formed in 2003 by Liv Kristine, formerly the lead singer of Theatre of Tragedy, and the entire line-up of Atrocity. Jon Oliva's Pain (sometimes referred to as JOP) was the latest project of Savatage co-founder Jon Oliva. Serenity is an Austrian symphonic power metal band, which was originally formed back in 2001. They became a more stable group with a consistent line-up in 2004, when it also began using more progressive and power influences than earlier. They have defined their genre with more melodic and symphonic metal elements.
