Proctor-Beauchamp Baronets
The Beauchamp-Proctor, later Proctor-Beauchamp Baronetcy, of Langley Park in the County of Norfolk, is a title in the Baronetage of Great Britain. It was created on 20 February 1745 for the twenty-two-year-old William Beauchamp-Proctor, subsequently Member of Parliament for Middlesex. Born William Beauchamp, he assumed the additional surname of Proctor according to the will of his maternal uncle, George Proctor, of Langley Park, Norfolk. The second Baronet married Mary Palmer, a beauty who was the subject of portraits by George Romney and Benjamin West. The third Baronet was an admiral in the Royal Navy. The fourth Baronet assumed by Royal licence the surname of Proctor-Beauchamp in lieu of Beauchamp-Proctor in 1852 and served as High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1869. Sir Montagu Proctor-Beauchamp, 7th Baronet
Sir Montagu Harry Proctor-Beauchamp, 7th Baronet (19 April 1860 – 26 October 1939) was a British Anglican Christian missionary. Biography Proctor-Beauchamp was the fourth son of Sir Thomas William Brograve Proctor-Beauchamp, 4th Baronet, and his wife the Hon. Catherine Esther, daughter of Granville Waldegrave, 2nd Baron Radstock. He was educated at Repton and Trinity College, Cambridge. Proctor-Beauchamp was one of the Cambridge Seven, students from Cambridge University, who in 1885 decided to become missionaries in China. He served with the China Inland Mission during the late Qing dynasty in China. Together with Arthur T. Polhill-Turner and William Cassels, the three established a proper Church of England diocese in Szechwan. He was evacuated from China during the Boxer Rising in 1900, but was back in China again from 1902 to 1911. Sir William Beauchamp-Proctor, 3rd Baronet
Admiral Sir William Beauchamp-Proctor, 3rd Baronet (14 October 1781 – 14 March 1861) was an officer in the British Royal Navy, who served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Biography Beauchamp-Proctor was born at Langley Hall, Loddon, Norfolk, the eldest son of Sir Thomas Beauchamp-Proctor, 2nd Baronet, and Mary, the second daughter of Robert Palmer, of Sonning, Berkshire. His younger brothers were Colonel Richard Beauchamp-Proctor of the Grenadier Guards (d. 11 August 1850) and Captain Robert Beauchamp-Proctor of the Madras Artillery (d. 23 May 1813). His nephew, Edward Halhead Beauchamp-Proctor, also served as a naval officer. Beauchamp Baronets
There have been two baronetcies created for persons with the surname Beauchamp, both in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Both titles are extinct. The Beauchamp Baronetcy, of Grosvenor Place in the City of Westminster, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 27 June 1911 for Edward Beauchamp, Liberal Member of Parliament for Lowestoft. He was the second son of Reverend William Henry Beauchamp, second son of Sir William Beauchamp-Proctor, 3rd Baronet (see Proctor-Beauchamp Baronets). The second Baronet was Conservative Member of Parliament for Walthamstow East. The title became extinct on his death in 1976. The Beauchamp Baronetcy, of Woodborough in the County of Somerset, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 4 October 1918 for Major Frank Beauchamp. Sir Edward Beauchamp, 1st Baronet JP (12 April 1849 – 1 February 1925) was a British businessman and Liberal Party politician. Background Beauchamp was educated at Highgate School. He served as a midshipman in the Royal Navy. He was Chairman of Lloyd's of London from 1905 to 1913, and vice-chairman from 1915 to 1916. He was made a baronet on 27 June 1911, of Grosvenor Place, in the City of Westminster. Political career Beauchamp was a Justice of the peace for Norfolk. At the 1906 general election, he was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lowestoft division of Suffolk. He was defeated at the January 1910 general election, but regained the seat at the December 1910 election. Cambridge Seven
The Cambridge Seven were six students from Cambridge University and one from the Royal Military Academy, who in 1885, decided to become missionaries to China through the China Inland Mission. For the next month, the seven toured the University campuses of England and Scotland, holding meetings for the students.
