Pro-jekt
Pro-jekt are an English rock band who have sometimes described themselves as gothic metal, although it has been noted that they have a darkwave sound.''Metal Hammer'', issue 152 (May 2006) They formed in January 2000, in Derbyshire, England. They engineered and financed their own demo album, and, in August 2001, signed to Nightbreed Recordings Ltd. Pro-jekt released their debut album on Nightbreed Recordings in April 2002. On the live circuit, the band played over 90 performances, including touring with Mortiis and Carl McCoy's side project, The Last Rites. In 2003, Pro-jekt completed a full UK tour and held live dates in Italy, Belgium and France. After completing the 20 date "Evilution Tour" at Fibbers in York at the end of 2003, the band regrouped back in Derbyshire to start recording their next studio album. Lumous Gothic Festival
Lumous Gothic Festival (more commonly known as Lumous) was the largest festival dedicated to the goth subculture in Finland and the northernmost Gothic festival in the world. The four-day event was organised every summer in Tampere in late June or early July. While its primary focus was on music, covering musical genres such as gothic rock, deathrock, industrial, EBM and neofolk, other cultural and arts events were also organised as part of the festival. Lumous Festival consisted mainly of club nights organised in bars and clubs at the centre of Tampere, and also included a cruise dubbed ''die dunkle Seereise'' on the lake Pyhäjärvi. Projekt is a Portland, Oregon-based independent record label started by Sam Rosenthal in 1983. Projekt releases music in the styles of darkwave, ambient, shoegaze, gothic rock, ethereal, dream-pop, and dark cabaret. Projekt artists include Sam Rosenthal's own Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Steve Roach, Voltaire, Erik Wøllo, Unto Ashes, Weep (Doc Hammer, co-writer of the Adult Swim show The Venture Bros.), Mira, and Android Lust. Gothic Metal
Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. Dark wave (also typeset as darkwave) is a music genre that emerged from the new wave and post-punk movement of the late 1970s. Mortiis
Mortiis is an electronic band from Notodden, Norway fronted by Håvard Ellefsen, who is also known as the namesake of the band. The name is a misspelling of the word "mortis", which is the pronunciation used by the band. Mortiis started as the solo project of Ellefsen as a means to convey a story. This aspect was lost over time and Mortiis slowly formed into a band. Ellefsen previously played bass in the black metal band Emperor (1991–1992), prior to forming this project in 1993. The time he spent in his previous band laid the groundworks for mixing black metal elements with various electronic genres, with these being touched upon across each "era" of the band. Carl Douglas McCoy (born 15 January 1963) is a British singer who is the frontman for the gothic rock band Fields of the Nephilim. Biography McCoy frequently uses mystical and occult references in his lyrics. Samples of Aleister Crowley's voice were featured on ''Elizium''. McCoy owns a graphics company, Sheerfaith, which has supplied art and design for all of his musical projects.
