Prix Miesque
The Prix Miesque is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to two-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at Maisons-Laffitte over a distance of 1,400 metres (about 7 furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late October or early November. History The event is named after Miesque, a successful French-trained filly in the late 1980s. It was established in 2001, and the inaugural running was won by Contemporary. The Prix Miesque replaced the Prix Saint-Roman, a race last staged in 2000. Its predecessor was traditionally contested by juveniles of either gender, but was restricted to fillies in its last three years. Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse
The Hippodrome de Maisons-Laffitte at 1 avenue de la Pelouse in the northwestern Parisian suburb of Maisons-Laffitte in France was a grass, turf horse racing facility and Hippodrome, track for Thoroughbred flat racing. Opened in 1878 by Joseph Oller, inventor of the Parimutuel betting, pari-mutuel machine, it sits on 92 hectares that belonged to the wealthy banker Jacques Laffitte. The nearby Château de Maisons, Château de Maisons-Laffitte is home to The Museum of the Racehorse. In November 2018 France Galop announced that the racecourse would close at the end of 2019 due to financial pressures on the organisation. The final meeting was held on 29th October 2019. Maxime Guyon (born 7 May 1989) is a French flat racing jockey, who debuted at 2005. In 2008, he received a professional license and won first group one at the Grand Prix de Paris. In 2010, he won races in the United Kingdom, Japan and Hong Kong. Since 2015, he is a retained jockey for Wertheimer et Frère, succeeding Olivier Peslier in the role. Dream And Do (foaled 19 February 2017) is an Irish-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed great promise as a two-year-old in 2019 when she won three of her four races including the Group 3 Prix Miesque. In the following year she ran second in the Prix de la Grotte before taking the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. Background Dream And Do is a bay filly with a white star and snip bred in France by the Normandy-based Haras du Logis Saint Germain. As a yearling in August 2018 she was put up for auction at the Arqana Deauville sale but failed to reach her reserve price of $91,504. She was sent into training with Frederic Rossi at his base near Marseille and has been ridden in most of her races by Maxime Guyon. She was from the sixth crop of foals sired by the Aga Khan's stallion Siyouni whose biggest win came in the 2009 running of the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère. Freddy Head
Freddy Head (born 19 June 1947, in Neuilly, France) is a retired champion jockey in Thoroughbred horse racing and currently a horse trainer. Known also as "Freddie", his grandfather was a jockey as was his father Alec Head who also became a successful trainer and owner of Haras du Quesnay near Deauville. Alec Head's horses won The Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In the 1976 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Freddie Head rode to victory on a horse trained by his father and in 1979 took another win on a horse trained by his highly successful sister, Christiane "Criquette" Head. He began as an apprentice for the trainer Robert Collet, and rode in his first race on 6 December 1994, on Raspoutine at Saint-Cloud Racecourse. His first victory was in his second race, riding Floris at Amiens racecourse on 9 September 1995.
