Primera Division (women)
The Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino, currently known as Liga F (finetwork Liga F for sponsorship reasons), is the highest level of league competition for women's football in Spain. It is the women's equivalent of the men's La Liga, and it is organized by the ''Liga Profesional Femenina de Fútbol (LPFF)''. As one of the top six national leagues ranked by Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) coefficient, it is considered one of the most important women's leagues in Europe. Starting with the 2021–22 edition, as determined by the UEFA women's coefficient, the top three teams will qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League. The league was founded in 1988, and has operated every year since, although it has undergone several changes in format and names including; Primera Iberdrola (formerly Liga Femenina Iberdrola for sponsorship reasons), Superliga Femenina, División de Honor, and Liga Nacional. Rayo Vallecano Femenino is the women's football section of Madrid-based club Rayo Vallecano, currently playing in the Primera Federación. Between 2008 and 2011 it won three national championships and one national cup. History Rayo Vallecano established its women's team in 2000, absorbing local club CD El Buen Retiro. In 2003 it earned promotion to the top league, and after two seasons in mid-table it established itself in the top positions from 2006. Valencia CF Femenino, previously Asociación Deportiva DSV Colegio Alemán, is a Spanish women's football team from Valencia currently playing in Spain's top league Liga F. History A modest club founded back on 25 November 2000 within the German School in Valencia (DSV), Colegio Alemán attained promotion to the Superliga Femenina for the 2007–08 season. History Founded on 19 September 2004, Real Sociedad reached the first division after two promotions in its two first seasons ever, and occupying the place of dissolved Estudiantes de Huelva. Levante Unión Deportiva Femenino is the women's football team of Valencian football club Levante UD, based at Ciudad Deportiva in Buñol and playing in the Liga F. History Founded in 1993 as San Vicente CFF, the team was absorbed by Levante in 1998 after it won the national championship in its debut season in the top category. SD Eibar Femenino is a Spanish women's football team from Eibar, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, currently playing in the Primera Federación. It is the women's section of SD Eibar. Below the first team, the club also incorporates a senior B-team playing at the provincial fourth level, plus three youth teams. History Eibar women's team was founded in 1991 as Eibartarrak Futbol Taldea.
