This article lists the heads of government of the Central African Republic. There have been twenty-five heads of government of the Central African Republic and the Central African Empire. The office of Prime Minister, the head of government, was created when the Central African Republic became an autonomous territory of France in December 1958. It was originally the highest post of the Central African Republic, though France did maintain a governor in the territory. After the Central African Republic declared its independence and became a republic on 13 August 1960, David Dacko held both the Prime Minister and newly created President of the Central African Republic posts briefly before eliminating the Prime Minister position and placing all executive power in the office of the President. Coat Of Arms Of The Central African Republic
The coat of arms of the Central African Republic consists of a shield in the center, with two flags on its edges, and with a sun rising over the shield. Below and above the shield are banners, and there is the badge of the Order of Central African Merit located below the shield as well. Symbolism ''ZO KWE ZO'', the motto in Sango, means "A man is a man" or "All people are people". The elephant and the baobab tree represent nature and the backbone of the country. The gold star on a map of Africa symbolizes the position of the Central African Republic. The hand (bottom right quarter) was the symbol of the dominant MESAN party in 1963 when the arms were adopted. The bottom left quarter holds three diamonds, which symbolize the mineral resources of the country. The medal under the shield is the honorific decoration of the Order of Central African Merit. Séléka CPSK-CPJP-UFDR was an alliance of rebel militia groups that subjugated the Central African Republic (CAR) on 24 March 2013. After its official dissolution in September 2013, the remaining rebel groups became known as Ex-Séléka. Séléka leader Michel Djotodia became the nation's president from March 2013 until his resignation in January 2014. National Unity Party (Central African Republic)
The National Unity Party (french: Parti de l'Unité Nationale, PUN) is a political party in the Central African Republic. History The party was established in 1997. In the 1998 parliamentary elections it won three seats. In the presidential elections the following year the party nominated Jean-Paul Ngoupandé as its candidate. Ngoupandé, who had briefly served as president from June 1996 to January 1997, finished sixth out of ten candidates with 3.2% of the vote. In the presidential elections held on 13 March 2005 Ngoupandé received 5.1% of the vote.
