Primaggio Mantovi
Primaggio Mantovi (born San Vito dei Normanni, January 18, 1945) is an Italian-born Brazilian comics artist. Born in Italy, he moved with his family to Brazil at age nine. He began his career at publishing house Rio Gráfica Editora (RGE) in 1964, where he produced around 200 magazine covers and wrote and illustrated comics about western (Rocky Lane) and humor (Beetle Bailey). In 1972, he released his own character at RGE, the clown Sacarrolha, who had his own comic book that was quite successful at the time. Mantovi also created the comic strip ''Dr. Zoo, o Veterinário'', which was published in newspapers in Brazil, Cuba and the Netherlands. From 1973, Mantovi also worked with Disney comics at editora Abril, being responsible for the coordination of "Escolinha Disney" ("Disney School"), an Abril project that sought to create new talent for the then great Brazilian production of Disney comics. San Vito Dei Normanni
San Vito dei Normanni ( Sanvitese: ) is an Italian town of 19,947 inhabitants of the province of Brindisi in Apulia. The inhabitants are called Sanvitesi (or Santuvitisi in dialect) and the town is sometimes referred to as San Vito. Physical geography The town is located in the northeast of the Salento plains, not far from the Itria Valley. Editora Abril is a major Brazilian publisher and printing company and one of the biggest media holdings in Latin America. The company was founded in 1950 by Victor Civita in São Paulo and is now part of Grupo Abril. Civita had initially founded his publisher as Editora Primavera, publishing an unsuccessful comic magazine named in Brazil ''Raio Vermelho''. The following year, Civita changed its name to Abril - referencing the month in which spring begins on the northern hemisphere - - and published its first title, ''Donald Duck'', in Brazil called ''Pato Donald'', which continues to run to this date. Brazilian comics (known in Brazilian Portuguese as ''HQs, gibis, revistinhas, historietas'', ''quadrinhos'' or ''tirinhas'') started in the 19th century, adopting a satirical style known as cartoon, charges or caricature that would later be cemented in the popular comic strips. The publication of magazines dedicated exclusively to comics, in Brazil, started at the beginning of the 20th century. Brazilian artists have worked with both styles. Prêmio Angelo Agostini For Master Of National Comics
Master of National Comics ( pt-BR, Mestre do Quadrinho Nacional) is one of the categories of Prêmio Angelo Agostini, the most traditional Brazilian award dedicated to comics that has been held since 1985 by Associação dos Quadrinhistas e Caricaturistas do Estado de São Paulo (AQC-ESP). History The "Master of National Comics" category has been part of Prêmio Angelo Agostini since its first edition, in 1985. It is aimed to reward artists who have been dedicated to Brazilian comics for at least 25 years. The four honorees of this first edition were chosen by AQC-ESP board. The following year, the winners were elected by open vote for members of AQC-ESP and comics artists associations from other Brazilian states (and, later, for any interested person, whether comics professionals or readers). Omelete is a Brazilian entertainment website created in 2000 by Érico Borgo, Marcelo Forlani and Marcelo Hessel that covers some subjects of pop culture such as movies, comics, music, television and video games.
