Pretty Deadly
''Pretty Deadly'' is a creator-owned American comic book series by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Spanish artist Emma Ríos, distributed by Image Comics. The story combines elements from western and horror genres, and draws on aspects from mythology and folklore. ''Pretty Deadly'' is Deconnick and Ríos' third collaboration, their first being ''Osborn'' in 2011 and their second being issues #5 & 6 of the 2012 ''Captain Marvel'' series. The initial print run for issue one of 57,000 copies sold out. Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Kelly Sue DeConnick
Kelly Sue DeConnick (born July 15, 1970) is an award-winning American comic book writer and editor and English–language adapter of manga. Career Kelly Sue DeConnick was first introduced to the comics industry by writing copy for photos in adult magazines. She eventually moved on to posting her own stories on a message board for fellow comic book author Warren Ellis. He invited her to work on his new website at the time, artbomb.net, where she wrote catalog entries for comic-book issues. Later in life, she got a job adapting translations of Japanese manga comics for Tokyopop and Viz Media. In order to make sure the dialogue she was adapting to English still followed the story arcs, she worked with a translator. Emma Ríos
Emma Ríos Maneiro (born April 1, 1976, Vilagarcía de Arousa) is a Spanish comics artist, writer, and editor with an international presence in the comics industry. She has worked for some of the largest American comics publishers, including Marvel, Image, and Boom! Studios. She has several ongoing titles: ''Mirror'' with Malaysian artist Hwei Lim and ''Pretty Deadly'' with American writer Kelly Sue Deconnick. The latter earned Ríos Eisner award nominations for Best Penciller/Inker/Artist and Best Cover Artist in 2014 and a win for Best Cover Artist in 2020. Jordie Bellaire is an American comic book writer and colorist who lives in Ireland and works for DC, Marvel, Valiant, and Image comic book publishers. Mythology
