Presidente Epitácio is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The town is named after Epitácio Pessoa. The population is 44,389 (2020 est.) in an area of 1260 km2. The elevation is 310 m. It is situated on the Paraná River, which forms the border with Mato Grosso do Sul here. The municipality contains the Lagoa São Paulo Reserve. It contains part of the Great Pontal Reserve, created in 1942. Brazil observed daylight saving time (DST) (called ''horário de verão'' – "summer time" – in Portuguese) in the years of 1931–1933, 1949–1953, 1963–1968 and 1985–2019. The Great Pontal Reserve ( pt, Grande Reserva do Pontal), formally called the Pontal do Paranapanema State Reserve ( pt, Reserva Estadual Pontal do Paranapanema), is an ecological reserve is the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It was created in 1942, but over the years suffered considerable degradation by illegal invasions and squatters. It was partly flooded after construction of the Eng Sérgio Motta Dam on the Paraná River. The reserve today is a poor agricultural region mostly used for cattle and sugar cane farming. The Lagoa São Paulo Reserve ( pt, Reserva Lagoa São Paulo) is an ecological reserve in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It was created in 1942, but over the years suffered considerable degradation by illegal invasions and squatters. Mato Grosso Do Sul

Epitácio Lindolfo da Silva Pessoa (; 23 May 1865 – 13 February 1942) was a Brazilian politician and jurist who served as 11th president of Brazil between 1919 and 1922, when Rodrigues Alves was unable to take office due to illness, after being elected in 1918. His period of government was marked by military revolts that would culminate in the Revolution of 1930, which brought Getúlio Vargas into control of the federal government.
