The president of Tuscany is the supreme authority of Tuscany. Election Originally appointed by the Regional Council of Tuscany, since 1995 ''de facto'' and 2000 ''de jure'', he is elected by popular vote every five years under universal suffrage: the candidate who receives a plurality of votes, is elected. Eugenio Giani (born 30 June 1959 in Empoli) is an Italian politician. Lelio Lagorio (9 November 1925 – 6 January 2017) was an Italian politician who served as the first President of Tuscany from 1970 until 1978.
