Premio Simpatia
The ''Premio Simpatia'' (Sympathy Prize) is an annual Italian prize. It has granted since 1971 to those who have distinguished themselves in the social sector, regardless of their sectors of activity. The awards ceremony takes place at the Capitoline Palace of Rome, which is the reason why the award is also known as ''Oscar Capitolino''. Among the most renowned winners is the President of the Italian Republic, Sandro Pertini, in 1985. History The prize was designed by Domenico Pertica, but finds its historical origins in Aldo Palazzeschi and Vittorio De Sica. The ceremony is organized by the ''Comitato Romano Incremento Attività Cittadine'' (literally: Roman Committee of complementary urban activities). The Oscar Capitolino is symbolized by a bronze rose created by the sculptor Assen Peikov. In 2001, an Oscar of the Capitol was awarded to the memory of Domenico Pertica, its founder. Monica Vitti
Monica Vitti (born Maria Luisa Ceciarelli; 3 November 1931 – 2 February 2022) was an Italian actress who starred in several award-winning films directed by Michelangelo Antonioni during the 1960s. After working with Antonioni, Vitti changed focus and began making comedies, working with director Mario Monicelli on many other films. She appeared with Marcello Mastroianni, Alain Delon, Richard Harris, Terence Stamp, and Dirk Bogarde. On her death, Italian culture minister Dario Franceschini called her "the Queen of Italian cinema". ''Ezio Mauro'' (born 24 October 1948) is an Italian journalist. He was editor-in-chief of the newspaper la Repubblica from 1996 to 2016. Biography Mauro was born in Dronero, Italy. Umberto Guidoni (born 18 August 1954 in Rome) is an Italian astrophysicist, science writer and a former ESA astronaut, being the first European to visit the International Space Station. Achille Silvestrini (25 October 1923 – 29 August 2019) was an Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served in the Vatican diplomatic corps, either in Rome or abroad, from 1953 to 1990, and later as Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches from 1991 to 2000.
