Prelude To History
''Prelude to History'' is the second and final studio album by German girl group Preluders. It was released on 27 September 2004 by Cheyenne Records, Polydor and Zeitgeist. A collection of cover versions of songs from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, it features production by Thorsten Brötzmann, Andre "Brix" Buchmann, and Ingo Politz. Upon its release, the album underperformed, debuting and peaking at number 44 on the German Albums Chart. It spawned two moderately successful singles with " Walking on Sunshine" and a remake of The Contours' "Do You Love Me "Do You Love Me" is a rhythm and blues song recorded by the Contours in 1962. Written and produced by Motown Records owner Berry Gordy Jr., it appeared twice on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, reaching numbers three in 1962 and eleven in 1988 ...", resulting in lackluster sales in general. "It's My Party" is a song by American singer-songwriter Lesley Gore from her debut studio album ''I'll Cry If I Want To'' (1963). It was released as the lead single from the album on April 5, 1963, by Mercury Records. The song was collectively written by Herb Wiener, John Gluck Jr., and Wally Gold, whilst production was helmed by Quincy Jones. "Caravan of Love" is a 1985 R&B hit originally recorded by Isley-Jasper-Isley, the second half of the Isley Brothers' ''3 + 3'' lineup of the 1970s. Lollipop (1958 Song)
"Lollipop" is a pop song written by Julius Dixson and Beverly Ross in 1958. It was first recorded by the duo Ronald & Ruby – the writer of the song Ross herself was "Ruby". It was covered more successfully by The Chordettes whose version reached No. 2 in the US, and The Mudlarks in the UK. Origins The song originated when Julius Dixson was late for a songwriting session with Beverly Ross. He explained that his daughter had gotten a lollipop stuck in her hair, and that had caused him to be late. Ross was so inspired by the word "lollipop" that she sat down at the piano and produced a version of the song on the spot. Beverly Ross recorded a demo with Ronald Gumm (or Gumps), a 13-year-old neighbor of Dixson, under the name Ronald & Ruby.
