Predappio Alta–Roma
Predappio (; rgn, La Pré or ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in the region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy, with a population of 6,135 as of 1 January 2021. The town is best known for being the birthplace of Benito Mussolini, dictator of Italy from 1922 to 1943. Mussolini is buried at Predappio, and his mausoleum is a local tourist destination, as well as a site of pilgrimage for Italian fascists. History From its origins (possibly Ancient Rome, Roman) until the 1920s, Predappio was a rural town of modest size, situated on the hills of Forlì. Augustus divided Italy into eleven provinces and Predappio was within the sixth province. It is believed that the town name derives from the installation in those locations of an ancient Roman family: the ''Appi''. Emilia ( egl, Emeja / Emégglia / Emélia) is a historical region of northern Italy, which approximately corresponds to the western and the north-eastern portions of the modern region of Emilia-Romagna, with the area of Romagna forming the remainder of the modern region. Etymology Emilia takes its name from the Via Aemilia, a Roman road constructed by the consul Marcus Aemilius Lepidus in 187 BCE to connect Rimini with Piacenza. The name was transferred to the district (which formed the eighth Augustan region of Italy) as early as the time of Martial, in popular usage. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Giorgio Frassineti
Giorgio Frassineti (29 September 1964 in Forlì) is an Italian politician of the Partito Democratico (PD) and from 2009 to 2019 mayor of Predappio. Early life In 1990, Frassineti completed his study in geography at University of Bologna. Career In June 2009, he took over the office of mayor of the municipality of Predappio with a center-left coalition. The village of 6,000 inhabitants in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna is most widely known as the birthplace of Mussolini. Because of Predappio's historical significance, it was of particular concern to Frassineti to preserve buildings from the 20th century. Frassineti developed the idea of an international documentation centre of the 20th century.
