Pravin Pandya
Pravin Pandya (born 16 February 1957, Gujarati: પ્રવીણ પંડ્યા) is a Gujarati language poet, writer, playwright and dramatist from Gujarat, India. His significant works include '' Ajavasnan Matsya'' (1994), ''India Lodge'' (2003), ''Hathiraja Ane Bija Natako'' (2004) and ''Barda Na Dungar'' (2009). He is noted in Gujarati literature for his theatre activism and his dramatized adaptations of Hindi poet Shamser Bahadur Singh's works. He won Uma-Snehrashmi Prize (2008–09) for his book ''Barda Na Dungar''. Early life Pandya was born in Dhrangadhra, Surendranagar district, Gujarat to Jagjivandas and Mangalabahen. He completed his schooling from K. M. Boys High School, Dhrangadhra. He got his Bachelor of Arts (Dramatics) from Gujarat University in 1989. He completed Diploma in Journalism in 1991. Surendranagar District
Surendranagar is an administrative district in Saurashtra region of Gujarat state in India. It has a population of approximately 1.7 million people. Surendranagar city, along with the twin city of Wadhwan, has a total of 400,000 inhabitants, and is known as "Camp". Economy In the past, Surendranagar was used by colonialists as a hill station, because of its dry environment that was beneficial for some physical as well as mental ailments. Prasar Bharati (abbreviated as PB; Hindi: ''Praśar Bharati'', lit. Indian Broadcaster) is India's State media, state-owned public broadcaster, headquartered in New Delhi. ''Kumar'' ( gu, કુમાર) is a Gujarati literary magazine founded by Gujarati artist and author Ravishankar Raval in 1924. It is now edited by Dhiru Parikh. The headquarters is in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. History ''Kumar'' was founded by Ravishankar Raval in Ahmedabad in 1924. The magazine was started as an avant-garde cultural publication. Bachubhai Ravat served as editor-in-chief from 1924 to 1942 with him. After the death of Ravishankar Raval, Bachubhai served as editor until 1980. After the death of Bachubhai in 1980, Biharibhai Tank became the editor of magazine. In 1987, it was closed. After three years, in 1990, under the editorship of Dhiru Parikh, the publication resumed. Praful Raval serves as the co-editor of the magazine. In April 2011, the 1000th issue of magazine was released. Premanand Bhatt
Premanand Krushanram Bhatt (Gujarati: પ્રેમાનંદ કૃષ્ણંરામ ભટ્ટ) (1636–1714), also known as Premanand, was a medieval Gujarati poet and ''Maanbhatt'' (professional story teller) known for his Akhyana compositions. Life He was born in 1636 at Vadodara in the caste of the Nandora Chaturvanshi Brahmins. In colophons of his Akhyanas, he remarked such as, "Place of braves called Vadodara, Situated in the middle of Gujarat, caste Chaturvanshi Bramins, Bhatt Premanand is the name". In those times, Gujarat was ruled by Mughal governor Aurangzeb. At that time it was openly said: "Marwari language is valued at 16 aanas (equiv. to 1 Rupee), Kachhi language is valued at 12 aanas; Marathi language is valued at 8 aanas, while Gujarati language is valued at 4 paise (equiv. to 1 aana)".
