Pratyoush Onta
Pratyoush Onta is a Nepali historian and editor based at Martin Chautari. He is the author and editor/co-editor of several books including ''Social History of Radio Nepal'' (2004, in Nepali), ''Growing up with Radio'' (2005, in Nepali), ''25 Years of Nepali Magazines'' (2013, in Nepali), ''The State of History Education and Research in Nepal'' (2014) and ''Political Change and Public Culture in Post-1990 Nepal'' (2017). He received his BA (economics) in 1988 from Brandeis University and PhD in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. He has written about the media in Nepal in the past and now mostly writes about higher education, research and knowledge distribution. Martin Chautari
Martin Chautari is non-profit organization of Nepal established to allow development professionals and academics to meet every two weeks to share their insights and experiences about various current social issues. In 1991, Martin Chautari was an informal discussion group in Kathmandu that allows development professionals, social activists and academics to meet every two weeks to share insights and experiences related to Nepali development and society. The founders of this discussion group included Nepali power engineer Bikas Pandey, Norwegian engineer Odd Hoftun and Norwegian academic Martin Hoftun. In 1995, the name ‘Martin Chautari’ was adopted in memory of Martin Hoftun, who was tragically killed in an airplane accident in 1992. Yogesh Raj is a Nepali historian, scholar and writer. He won the Madan Puraskar for his novel ''Ranahar'' in 2018. Biography He has a degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD in the history of science, technology, and medicine from Imperial College, London. He is a polyglot and speaks seven languages (Maithali, Nepali, English, Hindi, Bengali, Nepalbhasa and German). In 2013, he wrote a book based on the death rituals of Hindu Newars titled ''Sandhya Samrachana: Hindu Newarharu ko Mrityu Chetana''. He edited the jail diaries of the martyr Bharat Gopal Jha which was published as ''Uhi Jha: Euta Yuba Sahidko Antim Jail Diary (2018–2020)'' in 2017. He published his first novel ''Ranahar'' in 2018.
