Pratima Sherpa
Pratima Sherpa ( ne, प्रतिमा शेर्पा; born 27 November 1999) is the first ranked amateur female golfer from Nepal. She was born and raised in a maintenance shed behind the third hole of the Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu. Her parents still live on the grounds of the golf course, where her father Pasang Sherpa works as a security guard and mother Kalpana Sherpa works as a maintenance worker. Sherpa entered her first tournament at age 11 and won 33 trophies over the next six years. After being profiled by the ''Nepali Times'' in 2016, she attracted international attention and was invited to meet golf legend Tiger Woods. She subsequently moved to California to train and attend Santa Barbara City College, where she was named Women's Golfer of the Year in 2020. Santa Barbara City College
Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) is a public community college in Santa Barbara, California. It opened in 1909 and is located on a campus. History Santa Barbara City College was established by the Santa Barbara High School District in 1909, making it one of the oldest community colleges in California. Royal Nepal Golf Club
The first golf course in Nepal was the ''Gauchar Golf Course'', in Gaucharan, established by General Kiran Shumsher in 1917, after observing the sport in Scotland. This first course was in Nepal 'browns', i.e. greens consisted of sand mixed with oil. King Tribhuvan Shah and his son Prince Basundhara Shah also played golf. When the adjacent airfield was expanded, the golf course had to be shortened. On September 5, 1965, the club received the ''designation 'Royal (patronage) by King Mahendra, the son of Tribhuvan, and the club was named "The Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC)" and Prince Basundra became the second president of the club. The founder members of the RNGC were the then S.P. Khadgajeet Baral (Retd. IGP), the then tennis champion Hem Lama, etc. The members were mostly foreigners and members of the Shah and Rana families.
