Praia Da Aguda
Aguda Beach (''Praia da Aguda in Portuguese'') is a small fishermen village located at about 13 km south of the city of Porto, in Arcozelo, a parish of Vila Nova de Gaia Municipality. It is known for its wide sandy beach ( FEE Blue Flag beach) and for its sea waters reach in marine life. Actually its waters are also, highly appreciated for therapeutics due to its high iodine content. Aguda Beach is one of the most calm and beloved beaches of Porto, and one of the most beautiful beaches of Costa Verde. History In mid-nineteenth century Aguda was a small group of wooden barracks that housed the fishermen engaged in the fish capture in this area. Arcozelo is a freguesia in the municipality (''concelho'') of Vila Nova de Gaia. Vila Nova de Gaia (; cel-x-proto, Cale), or simply Gaia, is a city and a municipality in Porto District in Norte Region, Portugal. It is located south of the city of Porto on the other side of the Douro River. The city proper had a population of 178,255 in 2001. The Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that a beach, marina, or sustainable boating tourism operator meets its standards. The Blue Flag is a trademark owned by FEE, which is a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation consisting of 65 organisations in 77 member countries. FEE's Blue Flag criteria include standards for quality, safety, environmental education and information, the provision of services and general environmental management criteria. Costa Verde (Portugal)
Costa Verde ( en, Green Coast) is a tourist and coastal region of northwest Portugal, delimited by the river mouths of Minho in the north and Douro in the south. The name of the region comes from the dominant colour of the dense vegetation of the land, the green (''Verde'' in Portuguese), supported by abundant precipitation. The climate is classified as Mediterranean (Köppen climate classification: ''Csb''). Beaches Of Porto District
A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae. Sediments settle in different densities and structures, depending on the local wave action and weather, creating different textures, colors and gradients or layers of material.
