Prabhadevi
Prabhadevi (Pronunciation: ɾəbʱaːd̪eʋiː is a small up-scale southern neighbourhood of Mumbai, situated between Dadar to the north, Worli to the south and the Arabian Sea to the west. The area derives its name from the 300 year old Prabhavati temple located in the locality. Prabhadevi starts at Sayani Road Junction and ends at Babasaheb Worlikar Chowk. Landmarks Prabhadevi is largely a residential area, consisting mostly of newly built apartments and high rises. One of Prabhadevi's most important landmark is Siddhivinayak Temple, which attracts thousands of devotees every day, Tuesday being the main day of prayer. Transportation Numerous BEST buses ply in the Prabhadevi region. Prabhadevi Temple
Prabhadevi Temple, also known as Prabhavati Devi Temple , is a Hindu temple located in the Prabhadevi area, near Dadar, Mumbai. The idol representing the main deity, Prabhavati Devi, dates back to the 12th Century. The temple itself, though, was constructed in 1715, making it only 300 years old. The temple is managed by Bhatji Jaywant Joshi who is a third generation pujari of the temple. History According to historians, the main deity of Prabhadevi Temple was originally referred to as ''Shakambari Devi''. She was the famous goddess (Kuladevi) of Seuna Yadava king Bimba Raja of Devgiri. According to local folklore, Prabhavati Devi appeared in the dreams of a devotee named Shyam Nayak from the Pathare Prabhu (one of Mumbai's earliest native communities), who would go on to build the temple of Prabhadevi. Parel – Prabhadevi railway station is a Railway station junction which connects the Central line and Western line of Mumbai Suburban Railway. It serves the area of Parel and Prabhadevi in Mumbai, India. This railway station has seven platforms, of which two are on the Prabhadevi side and the remaining platforms are on the Parel side with the middle one is a terminal platform and two platforms on the far east is for fast trains line, both sides are of only slow trains halt. Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai
The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shri Ganesh. It is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was originally built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on 19 November 1801. It is one of the richest temples in India. The temple has a small mandap with the shrine for Siddhi Vinayak ("Ganesha who grants your wish"). The wooden doors to the sanctum are carved with images of the Ashtavinayak (the eight manifestations of Ganesha in Maharashtra). The inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold, and the central statue is of Ganesha. In the periphery, there is a Hanuman temple as well. The exterior of the temple consists of a dome which is lit up with multiple colors in the evenings and they keep changing every few hours. Sulochana Latkar (born 30 July 1928) known by her screen name Sulochana, is a well-known actress of Marathi and Hindi cinema and has acted in 50 films in Marathi and around 250 films in Hindi. Dadar ( ̪aːd̪əɾ is a densely populated residential and shopping neighbourhood in Mumbai. It is also a prominent railway and bus service hub with local and national connectivity.
