Powers Allen Boothe (June 1, 1948 – May 14, 2017) was an American actor. He won an Emmy in 1980 for his portrayal of Jim Jones in '' Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones''. Biography Early years (1905–1936) Jessica Powers was born on February 7, 1905, in Mauston, Wisconsin, the third child to John Powers and Delia Trainer Powers. By the time Jessica had turned 13, she lost both her older sister and father. She graduated from Mauston High School in 1922 and attended Marquette University for a year studying journalism. She then worked in Chicago before returning to care for her family after the death of her mother from 1925 to 1936. Carmelite community (1941–1988) After spending time in New York City, Powers decided to enter the Milwaukee, Wisconsin community of the Carmel of Mother of God as a postulant on June 24, 1941. James Powers (October 1785 – January 3, 1868) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. Life He was the son of William Powers (c. 1745–1796) and Rhoda (Deane) Powers (1759–1828). He married Nancy Day (1787–1826), and they had three daughters. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Greene Co.) in 1816 and 1822. Jack Powers (1827 – October 26, 1860), whose real name was John A. Power, was an Irish-born American outlaw who emigrated to New York as a child and later served as a volunteer soldier in the Mexican–American War in the garrison of Santa Barbara, California. During the California Gold Rush, he was a well-known professional gambler and a famed horseman in the gold camps as well as in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Powers had two brushes with the law. He was tried as a member of The Hounds in San Francisco in 1849, and was also involved in a dispute over the ownership of a ranch in Santa Barbara County in 1853. In 1856, at Santa Barbara, Powers protected a fugitive from the vigilantes of San Francisco and helped him escape. Horace Henry Powers (May 29, 1835 – December 8, 1913) was an American lawyer, judge and politician. He was most notable for his service as an Associate Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court and a U.S. Representative from Vermont (1891-1901). A native of Morristown, Vermont, Powers received bachelor's (1855) and master's (1858) degrees from the University of Vermont, studied law, and became an attorney in first in Hyde Park before later returning to Morristown. Powers became active in politics as a Republican, and served in the Vermont House of Representatives (1858-1859), as State's Attorney of Lamoille County, Vermont (1861-1862), and the Vermont Senate (1872-1874). Powers returned to the Vermont House in 1874 and was elected to serve as Speaker of the House, but he resigned in order to accept appointment as an associate justice of the Vermont Supreme Court, where he served from 1874 to 1890.
