"Power" is the first track on the KMFDM album ''Xtort''. It was used to promote the album before its release in the summer of 1996. It was released in two limited edition vinyl pressings and as a CD single. Background KMFDM was preparing to release their ninth studio album ''Xtort''. TVT Records was heavily promoting its release, and used "Power" as the single to help spread awareness of the upcoming album. "Power" was featured on the "Wax Trax! Xtort
''Xtort'' (stylized as XTOЯT) is the ninth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on June 25, 1996 by Wax Trax! Records. It was recorded from the end of 1995 through early 1996, shortly after the death of Wax Trax! co-founder and band friend Jim Nash. ''Xtort'' features a variety of guest artists from the industrial music scene and studio musicians from other genres, but includes limited participation from core member En Esch. The album was massively promoted by KMFDM's American label TVT Records, which pressed tens of thousands of copies of its lead single "Power". Frontman Sascha Konietzko created his own form of promotion, issuing a press release that both disparaged and lauded the coming set. Chris Shepard is an American recording engineer and general manager at Chicago Recording Company. He is best known for his work with KMFDM, having engineered some of their most popular albums. He also worked on some of Sascha Konietzko's side projects. In addition, he has worked with many other bands, including PIG, Treponem Pal, Prong, Kidneythieves, Wilco, Smashing Pumpkins, Peter Murphy, and Incubus. KMFDM Songs
KMFDM (originally Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, loosely translated by the band as "no pity for the majority") is a multinational industrial band from Hamburg led by Sascha Konietzko, who founded the band in 1984 as a performance art project. The band's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. German guitarist Günter Schulz joined in 1990; both he and Esch continued with the band until KMFDM broke up in 1999. "Trust" is a KMFDM song from their 1995 album ''Nihil ''Nihil'' is the eighth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on April 4, 1995, by Wax Trax! Records. The album marked the return of former band member Raymond Watts and the first appearance of journeyman drummer Bill Rief ...'' which originally appeared as a remix on the " Glory" single in 1994. The remixed version of the song was also included on the Wax Trax! compilation album, ''Afterburn: '94 and Beyond''. Both versions of the song appeared on the German-only ''Trust/Juke Joint Jezebel'' release, which came out after the album and used a red version of the " Brute" single cover art. Günter Schulz
Günter Schulz (or Guenter Schulz) is a German musician, songwriter and former member of the industrial band KMFDM. Biography Schulz's first credited appearance (as Svetlana Ambrosius, or Svet Am) was on the band's '' Naïve'' album (1990). He continued using that stage name until 1995's ''Nihil''. Schulz displayed an impressive mastery of speed metal guitar skills and co-wrote many of KMFDM's songs from the 1990s. He also wrote and performed in various KMFDM side projects, including two albums with Sascha Konietzko's Excessive Force and a solo album by En Esch. He currently resides in Vancouver, Canada. In early manifestations of the KMFDM website, Schulz maintained a section called "Günter's Guitar Garage." Among other things, he used the space to encourage amateur guitarists to learn formal notation as opposed to tablature. Sascha Konietzko
Sascha Kegel Konietzko (born 21 June 1961), also known as Sascha K and Käpt'n K, is a German musician and record producer. He is the founder, frontman and "anchor" of the industrial band KMFDM. Konietzko jokingly purports himself to be the father of industrial rock. ''Keyboard Magazine'' wrote of him, "You won't find a more imaginative or effective keyboardist on the hard-core scene." KMFDM Konietzko is best known for his role as frontman of KMFDM. Having founded the group as a performance art project in 1984, he is the only member of KMFDM to appear on every release, and the only founding member still in the band. His main instruments are keyboards and drums, although he is also proficient at playing guitar and bass guitar.
