Poulton, Cheshire
Poulton is a settlement in Cheshire West and Chester. The area, which was a former civil parish until being merged into the combined parish of Poulton and Pulford in 2015, is in the ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2001 census it had a recorded population of 92. Since 1995, significant archaeological activity has been conducted in the area, first by the University of Liverpool and later by the independent group known as the Poulton Research Project. History Archaeological research has established there has been human habitation in the area since the Mesolithic period (8,000 B.C.). In the Sub-Roman Britain period, Iron Age roundhouse ditches, Briquetage and animal bones have also been found suggesting the area was once an important site for the processing and preserving of meat for trading. Richie Graham Poulton (born October 1962) is a New Zealand psychologist and the director of the University of Otago's Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health & Development Research Unit, which runs the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study (also known as the Dunedin Study). Mabel Lilian Poulton (29 July 1901 – 21 December 1994) was an English film actress, popular in Britain during the era of silent films. Career Born in Bethnal Green, London, England, Poulton worked as a stenographer and entered films by chance. Her first role in George Pearson's ''Nothing Else Matters'' (1920) was opposite Betty Balfour, who was also making her debut, and the film was a success. Over the next several years, Poulton was cast in a succession of roles, and usually played feisty or mischievous characters. Leah Joy Poulton (born 27 February 1984) is an Australian former cricketer who played for New South Wales and Australia. She played as a specialist batter who usually opened the batting. Poulton came to prominence in youth cricket by captaining New South Wales to the Under-17 national championships in 2000. Jared Poulton (born 21 April 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. Debuting with the Port Adelaide Football Club in 1999, he was noted as an impact player and when Port was playing well in 2004.
