Positiva Records is a subsidiary of Universal Music Group and concentrates on releasing dance music in the UK. The record label was set up in 1993, by Nick Halkes, who previously ran XL Recordings. Its headquarters are at the Universal UK offices (formerly at EMI offices in Brook Green in West London), where it is currently the only large dance music label under the EMI banner. History One of the label's first releases was "I Like to Move It" by Reel 2 Real, an alias of dance DJ Erick Morillo, originally released on Strictly Rhythm. "Beautiful People" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Barbara Tucker, who co-wrote it with India, Lem Springsteen and "Little" Louie Vega, who along with partner Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, co-produced the track. It was released on March 2, 1994, as her first single by Strictly Rhythm Records, and was also Tucker's first of seven number-one singles on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart, reaching the top spot on April 16, 1994. "Toca's Miracle" is a release by German vocal trance group Fragma featuring vocals from British singer Coco (also known as Coco Star). Taken as the second single off Fragma's debut studio album, ''Toca'' (2001), the song is a mashup of Coco's "I Need a Miracle" (1996) and Fragma's own "Toca Me". B.B.E. was a French-based trance music act, originally composed of Italian record producers Bruno Sanchioni and Bruno Quartier, and French producer Emmanuel Top. Musical career "Seven Days and One Week" (1996) was a top ten hit in more than ten countries worldwide, reaching number three in the United Kingdom, and in Germany. The song was certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for shipments of 200,000 copies in the United Kingdom. They had two Top 5 hits in the UK: "Seven Days and One Week" and "Flash". Binary Finary are a British trance act, originally comprising Matt Laws, Ricky Grant and Stuart Matheson. They are best known for the dance hit single "1998", especially for the Paul van Dyk and Gouryella remixes, which charted in many countries. The song was remixed numerous times under the title of the year the remix was produced ("1999" and "2000" etc.), many of which were popular. Judy Cheeks (born February 13, 1954) is an American singer and actress. In the 1970s and 1980s, she recorded as a soul and R&B singer, before releasing more dance-oriented music in the 1990s. The Bucketheads
Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez (born July 5, 1970), also sometimes known as K-Dope, is an American record producer and disc jockey. He is one half of the classic house music Masters at Work musical production team with Little Louie Vega; and also released the hit "The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall into My Mind)" as The Bucketheads. He has been referred to as one of the most prolific artists of the modern music age. Biography Gonzalez started his DJ career in 1985 organizing neighborhood block parties in his home of Brooklyn, New York, with his then musical partner, Mike Delgado. Under the Masters at Work moniker, the parties became quite successful and attracted Todd Terry who later borrowed the group's name for two record releases. Terry returned the favor at a later date when he loaned Gonzalez a drum machine, which began his interest in producing beats.
