On 2 June 1509, he ordered the construction of a Chapel of Bom Jesus, to serve his descendants. By the end of that century, the chapel had its own clergy, passing into a vicarage in 1568. São Miguel Island
São Miguel Island (; Portuguese language, Portuguese for "Saint Michael"), nicknamed "The Green Island" (''Ilha Verde''), is the largest and most populous island in the Portugal, Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Battle Of Ladeira Da Velha
The Battle of Ladeira da Velha was fought on 2 August 1831, between Portuguese Liberal and Miguelist forces on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, as part of the larger Portuguese Civil War. It resulted in a Liberal victory, that led to the control of the island of São Miguel and a wider victory of Liberal forces in the islands of the Azores.
