Port Botany Bus Depot is a bus depot in the Sydney suburb of Port Botany operated by Transdev John Holland. History On 8 May 1951 a new depot opened on the corner of Bunnerong Road and Wentworth Avenue, Pagewood. In the mid-1980s, the depot was relocated to a new site on Bumborah Point Road, Port Botany with the Pagewood site redeveloped as Westfield Eastgardens. Port Botany is a suburb in south-eastern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Port Botany is located 12 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Randwick. Port Botany sits on the northern shore of Botany Bay, adjacent to the suburbs of Matraville, Banksmeadow and Phillip Bay. Transdev John Holland Buses is a bus operator in Sydney, Australia. A joint venture between Transdev and John Holland, it operates services in Sydney Bus Region 9 in the Eastern Suburbs under contract to Transport for NSW. Pagewood
Pagewood is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 8 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district. It is part of the Bayside Council. Pagewood has a mixture of residential and industrial areas. History Pagewood was originally known as "South Daceyville", before being renamed to "Pagewood" in 1929, to honour the late Alderman Fred Page, the Mayor of Botany Council in 1928. The name "Kingsford" was also considered for Pagewood, but it was rejected and later used as the new name for South Kensington. Development of Pagewood began in 1919 with an estate called Monash Gardens. Westfield Eastgardens
Westfield Eastgardens is a large shopping centre in the suburb of Eastgardens in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Transport Westfield Eastgardens has bus connections to the Sydney CBD, Eastern Suburbs, Inner City and Inner West, as well as local surrounding suburbs. It is served by State Transit. The majority of its bus services are located inside the bus interchange on Bunnerong Road. There is no railway station at Eastgardens; the nearest station is located at Mascot. Westfield Eastgardens also has multi level car park with 3,148 spaces. History Westfield Eastgardens was built on the site of the former Urban Transit Authority Pagewood bus depot. The Sydney Metropolitan Bus Service Contracts are contracts issued by the Government of New South Wales to metropolitan bus operators in Sydney, Australia. Since 2005, the government has moved from individual contracts with operators to larger contract regions, leading to the consolidation of bus operators. History In February 2004 the Unsworth Review of Bus Services conducted by former Transport Minister and Premier Barrie Unsworth, reported its findings to the Carr Government, recommending that the number of contract areas that existed in Sydney be reduced from 87 to 15 with a lead entity identified for each region to negotiate a contract. State Transit Authority
The State Transit Authority of New South Wales, also referred to as State Transit, was an agency of the Government of New South Wales operating bus services in Sydney.
