Kelpo Gröndahl
Kelpo Olavi Gröndahl (28 March 1920 – 2 August 1994) was a light-heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Finland. He competed at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics and won a silver and a gold medal, respectively. He won another silver medal at the 1953 World Championships and finished fifth at the 1947 European Championships. Domestically he won 15 national titles, 11 in Greco-Roman (1943, 1946–1955) and 4 in freestyle wrestling (1948–1950, 1952). Gröndahl retired from competitions after failing to qualify for the 1956 Olympics. Between 1953 and 1980 he worked as the harbormaster of the Port of Pori. He also became a member of the Pori City Council and then a member of the Pori City board of directors. In 1962–1970 he was a member of the Parliament of Finland, representing the Finnish People's Democratic League, and was elected as a presidential elector in 1956, 1962 and 1968. Maalaiskunta (Finnish), landskommun (Swedish), "rural municipality", abbreviated ''mlk'' was one of the four types of municipality in Finland in 1865–1976. Other types in 1865–1959 were city (in Finnish ''kaupunki'') and market town (in Finnish ''kauppala''), in 1960–1976 old city (in Finnish ''vanha kaupunki''), new city (in Finnish ''uusi kaupunki'') and market town. Maalaiskunta was the most common type of municipality. In the 1977 reform, all municipalities were given fully equal legal standing. Previous ''maalaiskunta''s associated with a city retained their name. For example, Rovaniemen maalaiskunta ("the rural municipality of Rovaniemi) surrounded the city of Rovaniemi, but were independently governed. Aarne Tarkas
Aarne Tarkas (until 1947 Saastamoinen, 19 December 1923 – 7 October 1976) was a Finnish film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. Tarkas started his career as a screenwriter for Matti Kassila film ''Radio tekee murron'' (1951) for which they shared a Jussi Award. In 1952, he founded a production company Junior-Filmi, which produced internationally recognized Erik Blomberg film ''Valkoinen peura ''The White Reindeer'' ( fi, Valkoinen peura, sv, Den Vita Renen) is a 1952 Finnish Horror film, horror drama film directed by Erik Blomberg in his feature film debut. Maire Eva Johanna Gullichsen (née Ahlström, later known as Gullichsen-Nyströmer, 24 June 1907, Porin maalaiskunta – 9 July 1990, Pori) was a Finnish art collector and patron. She was a co-founder of the Artek furniture company. Pori Art Museum is based on Gullichsen's art collection. Gullichsen was the daughter of Finnish businessman Walter Ahlström. Gullichsen's grandfather was Antti Ahlström, one of Finland's most influential and wealthiest 19th century businessman. She studied art in Helsinki and in Paris between 1925 and 1928 and got married in 1928 to Harry Gullichsen, a Finnish director of Norwegian descent working at the Ahlstrom company. Johan Erik Gullichsen (28 June 1936 – 13 May 2023) was a Finnish paper engineer. From 1989 to 1999 he was professor for Pulping Technology at Helsinki University of Technology. Eino Grön, born January 31, 1939, is a Finnish American singer known for his performance of a wide range of popular music styles, including Tango, jazz, and spiritual music. Grön was born at the island of Reposaari in Pori but has lived the last 30 years mainly in Palm Beach, Florida. Grön made his first recording in 1958 and he is one of the most iconic persons in the Finnish popular music scene. Grön is best known as a tango singer but his styles vary from Finnish schlager to jazz and spiritual music, such as traditional Christmas songs. He has made recordings with many other artists like Argentina, Argentine tango musicians and Finnish jazz clarinet player Antti Sarpila.
