Pori Theatre ( fi, Porin Teatteri) is a theatre in Pori, Finland. It was established in 1931 as a merger of two local theatres. Theatre director is Christian Lindroos History Pori is considered as the home of Finnish-language theatre as the Finnish National Theatre gave its first audition in Pori at the Hotel Otava in 1872. First Swedish-language theatre groups in Pori were established in the 1840s. Pori Workers' Theater (Porin Työväen Teatteri), founded 1909, was the first professional theatre in Pori. The Finnish National Theatre ( fi, Suomen Kansallisteatteri), established in 1872, is a theatre located in central Helsinki on the northern side of the Helsinki Central Railway Station Square. The Finnish National Theatre is the oldest Finnish speaking professional theatre in Finland. It was known as the Finnish Theatre until 1902, when it was renamed the Finnish National Theatre. For the first thirty years of its existence, the theatre functioned primarily as a touring company. Hotel Otava
Hotel Otava was a hotel in Pori, Finland, that operated between 1857 and 1985. On its time of closing, Hotel Otava was the oldest hotel-restaurant in Finland. The Neo-Renaissance building is designed by the Swedish architect C. J. von Heideken. Today it works as an office building for the city administration. Hotel Otava was named after the Finnish-language name of the constellation Big Dipper. The building is located on the same block with the 1853 established Pori Brewery and the 1884 opened Pori Theatre. Matti Kassila (12 January 1924 – 13 December 2018) was a Finnish film director who achieved fame as one of the most prominent Finnish filmmakers in the 1950s and 1960s. He is most famous for the series of four Inspector Palmu movies, based on the character created by Mika Waltari. During his long career, he won seven Jussi Awards, including a concrete Jussi for lifetime achievement, and received numerous other commendations. Ilmari Unho
Ilmari Unho (22 October 1906 − 3 April 1961) was a Finnish actor, film director, and screenwriter. Unho was employed by Suomi-Filmi for most of his filmmaking career. Unho was born in Uusikaupunki in 1906. He started his film career as an actor in the 1925 film ''Pohjalaisia'' and also played roles in ''Meren kasvojen edessä'' (1926) and ''Kajastus'' (1930) during his early career. He worked as a theatre manager and journalist until 1938 when he was hired by Suomi-Filmi, a company he would stay with for the remainder of his career. Initially, Unho worked as a screenwriter. He wrote the scripts for ''Jääkärin morsian'' (1938) and ''Aktivistit'' (1939), but quickly transitioned into the director's chair, with the comedies ''Punahousut'' (1939) and ''Kersantilleko Emma nauroi?'' Saara Ranin
Saara Vilhelmiina Ranin (originally Muinonen; 3 March 1898 in Hamina – 3 March 1992) was a Finnish actress and director. She made a long career in various Finnish theatres while also appearing in several films. Saara Ranin was married to Helge Ranin, and actor Matti Ranin was their son. As a film actress, Ranin is best remembered as Amalia Rygseck in the Matti Kassila film ''Komisario Palmun erehdys'' (1960). Her final film appearance also came in a Kassila film, ''Natalia'' (1979). Saara Ranin died in 1992 on her 94th birthday after a short illness.
