Popstars (UK) Discography
''Popstars'' (UK) is a British reality television show produced for ITV that aired for two series. The first series, ''Popstars'', aimed to find five singers to form a new pop group. During the second series, '' Popstars: The Rivals'', two music groups were formed to compete for the Christmas number-one single in the United Kingdom. The five winning contestants from the first series formed the group Hear'Say. Their first two singles, " Pure and Simple" and "The Way to Your Love", became number-one hits on the UK Singles Chart. Two other single releases, " Everybody" and "Lovin' Is Easy", reached the top ten. Hear'Say released their first album ''Popstars'' in May 2001; this was followed by a second album, ''Everybody''. After a line-up change, the group split a year after formation. In the second series, two new groups, Girls Aloud and One True Voice, were formed. "Touch My Fire" is the fifth single by British R&B star Javine (her first for Island Records), serving as the entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. It was the first new material from Javine since her debut album, ''Surrender'', was released in 2004. Eurovision Song Contest 2005
The Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the 50th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, following the country's victory at the with the song "Wild Dances" by Ruslana. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU), the contest was held at the Palace of Sports, and consisted of a semi-final on 19 May, and a final on 21 May 2005. The two live shows were presented by Ukrainian television presenters Maria Efrosinina and Pavlo Shylko. Thirty-nine countries participated in the contest, three more than the previous record of thirty-six, that took part the year before. Bulgaria and Moldova made their first participation this year, while Hungary returned to the contest after a six-year absence, having last taken part in . The United Kingdom participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Touch My Fire" written by Javine Hylton, John Themis and Jonathan Shalit. The song was performed by Javine. Real Things (song)
"Real Things" is the debut single of English singer-songwriter Javine. The single, which features a sample of M.O.P.'s " Ante Up" and a lyrical interoperation of "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" by Duke Ellington and Irving Mills, reached the top five on the UK Singles Chart and is the biggest hit of her career to date. The song has also featured on the '' SingStar'' games, being the 19th single featured on '' SingStar Party''. Javine Hylton
Javine Dionne Hylton (born 27 December 1981), often known simply as Javine, is an English singer and songwriter. She represented the UK at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with "Touch My Fire". Hylton has also had a string of singles in the UK. Javine's cover version of "You've Got a Friend" was the theme music to ''Garfield: The Movie'' in 2004. Early life Hylton was born in London and grew up in Ladbroke Grove. From a young age, she had a passion for dance: "I didn't like singing. I started stage school at 10, because at my normal school, there were always fights. So I thought, what do I want to do? I want to dance." For two years, Hylton played Nala in a production of ''The Lion King'' in London's West End. Following the end of the run, she began writing songs and pursuing a career in music. ''Pop Idol'' is a British music competition television series created by Simon Fuller which ran on ITV from 2001 to 2003. Kimberley Gail Ratcliff (''née'' Marsh, previously Ryder and Lomas; born 13 June 1976) is an English actress, television presenter and singer. Liberty X
Liberty X (originally called Liberty) are a British-Irish group originally consisting of Michelle Heaton, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young. The group was formed by the five finalists of the 2001 ITV talent show ''Popstars'' who failed to make it into the winning group Hear'Say. In 2013 Liberty X's full members returned for the ITV2 documentary series ''The Big Reunion'' and toured until 2014. Since 2017, Heaton, Taylor and Young have performed as a girls trio. The group released their debut album, '' Thinking It Over'', on 27 May 2002 which featured their biggest single " Just a Little", which gave them international success. They released their second studio album ''Being Somebody'' a year later on 3 November 2003, although not matching the success of their debut.
