Popbitch
Popbitch is a weekly UK-based celebrity and pop music newsletter and associated dating website from the early 2000s. Much of the material for the newsletter comes from the Popbitch message boards, frequented by music industry insiders, gossips and the casually interested. The board has at various times been credited for celebrity rumours (both false and true) appearing in the press, and the coining of many expressions that have gone on to enjoy wider usage. History The website was the first of many satirical and irreverent UK gossip sites that skirted the limits of defamation law. The uncompromising ethos of cruel humour gave it a feel somewhat similar to usenet gossip newsgroups. Popbitch was founded, is owned and run by Neil Stevenson and Camilla Wright, both journalists. Camilla Wright
Camilla Wright (born 4 December 1970) is a British journalist and one of the founders (with then boyfriend Neil Stevenson) and owners of the Popbitch newsletter and website. In 2008 she published a book, ''Popbitch: Celebrity Excess And Other Monkey Business''. She graduated with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, PPE from Oriel College, Oxford in 1992. Before starting university and Popbitch her first job was as a bar promoter in Tenerife. In January 2007 she appeared in the BBC Radio 4, Radio 4 ''Great Lives'' series, nominating American war correspondent Martha Gellhorn. In 2011, Wright appeared to give evidence for the Leveson Inquiry into the Culture, Practices and Ethics of the Press. ''The Face'' is a British music, fashion, and culture monthly magazine originally published from 1980 to 2004, and relaunched in 2019. It was first launched in May 1980 in London by Nick Logan, the British journalist who had previously been editor of ''New Musical Express'' and ''Smash Hits''. Having narrowly survived a near closure in the early 1990s following the award of libel damages against the magazine, it finally ceased publication in 2004 as a result of dwindling circulation.
