Pop Warner Trophy
Coaches of the Pac-12 Conference bestow the following awards at the end of each football season. The conference was founded in its current form as the Athletic Association of Western Universities in 1959, but traces its roots to the Pacific Coast Conference, founded in 1915. The conference name changed to Pacific-8 Conference (Pac-8) in 1968 and Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) in 1978. The conference's 2011 expansion to 12 members saw the conference formally renamed as the Pac-12 Conference. Player of the Year The following are the conference's various Player of the Year award recipients. In 2004 the Defensive Player of the Year award was renamed the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year. Pac-12 Conference
The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference, that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the highest level of college football in the nation. The conference's 12 members are located in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. They include each state's flagship public university, four additional public universities, and two private research universities. The modern Pac-12 conference formed after the disbanding of the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC), whose principal members founded the Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) in 1959. Tom Ramsey
Tom Ramsey (born July 9, 1961) is a former professional American football quarterback, who played five seasons in the NFL for the New England Patriots and one season for the Indianapolis Colts. Earlier he played for the Los Angeles Express and the Oakland Invaders of the USFL. Ramsey graduated from Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, Calif., in 1979. When Ramsey was quarterback for Kennedy, the quarterback at rival high school Granada Hills was John Elway. At UCLA, he played an outstanding Rose Bowl game in 1983 and was awarded the game MVP along with Don Rogers. In 1998, Ramsey was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame, and in 2007, Ramsey was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame. Chuck Cecil
Charles Douglas "Chuck" Cecil (born November 8, 1964) is an American football coach and former player in the National Football League (NFL). He is currently the safeties coach at the University of Arizona in Tucson, his alma mater. He previously served as a defensive assistant for the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams. Cecil also spent two seasons (1999–2000) as a television analyst for University of Arizona football games. As a player, he was a Pro Bowl safety. Troy Aikman
Troy Kenneth Aikman (born November 21, 1966) is an American former football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. After transferring from Oklahoma, he played college football at UCLA, where he won the Davey O'Brien Award as a senior. Aikman was selected first overall in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Cowboys, with whom he received six Pro Bowl selections and won three Super Bowl titles. Byron Evans
Byron Nelson Evans (born February 23, 1964) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles defense of the late 1980s and early 1990s. He played college football at the University of Arizona and was drafted in the fourth round of the 1987 NFL Draft. Evans was a middle linebacker for some of the Eagles best defenses. Brad Muster
Bradley William Muster (born April 11, 1965) is a former American football fullback. He played college football at Stanford. He was selected in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. College career Muster attended San Marin High School in Novato, California, graduating in 1983. He later attended Stanford University. In the 1984 Big Game, Muster ran the ball for 204 yards on 34 carries. He had 78 receptions in the 1985 season, which is tied for third place in the Pacific-10 Conference. Mark Hartley Walen (born March 10, 1963) is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at UCLA. Early years Walen attended Burlingame High School, where he began playing football until his junior year. As a senior, he received All-county honors. He also lettered in basketball and soccer. Rueben A. Mayes (born June 6, 1963) is a Canadian former American football running back who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) from 1986 to 1993. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame for his contributions while playing for the Washington State Cougars. Early life and high school Mayes is a direct descendant of a group of African Americans who fled racial persecution in Oklahoma in 1910 and traveled north to Saskatchewan, Canada, after reading flyers which promised of free land to anyone willing to move there. The Arizona Wildcats football program represents the University of Arizona (UA) in the sport of American college football. Arizona competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12). Ron Rivera
Ronald Eugene Rivera (born January 7, 1962), nicknamed "Riverboat Ron", is an American football head coach for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He attended the University of California, Berkeley in the early 1980s, where he was recognized as an All-American linebacker for the Golden Bears. Following graduation, he was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 1984 NFL Draft and played nine seasons with them, including as a member of the 1985 team that won Super Bowl XX. Rivera's coaching career began in 1997 when he served as a quality control coach for the Bears.
