PopMaster
PopMaster (briefly known as Celebrity PopMaster from 2007–2008) is a popular music quiz on the ''Ken Bruce Show'' on BBC Radio 2 that has aired on weekday mornings since February 1998. It usually takes place at around 10:30 every weekday. The questions were originally devised by radio producer and music collector Phil "The Collector" Swern, but are now written by Neil Myners and Simon Bray. Structure Two contestants play against each other for the chance to win, until May 2022, a DAB digital radio. Since June 2022 the prizes were changed to either Bluetooth headphones or a smart speaker. Each contestant is asked ten questions based on popular music from the 1950s through to the present day. Correct answers to the questions are worth three points, other than for the third, sixth and ninth "bonus" questions on a topic chosen by the contestant, from two options offered by the host prior to the start of the quiz. Ken Bruce
Kenneth Robertson Bruce (born 2 February 1951) is a British broadcaster who is best known for hosting his long-running weekday mid-morning show on BBC Radio 2 from 1986 to 1990, and then again since 1992. Early life and career Bruce was born and raised in Glasgow. He attended Hutchesons' Boys' Grammar School, Glasgow, before training as a chartered accountant. Bruce's first job was washing cars. He began his broadcasting career with the Hospital Broadcasting Service in Glasgow. Bruce became a staff announcer for BBC Radio 4 Scotland. Following the launch of BBC Radio Scotland in November 1978, he became one of the original presenters of ''Nightbeat'', alongside Iain Purdon. Charles Nove subsequently joined the presentation rota. Steve Rosenberg (journalist)
Steven Barnett Rosenberg (born 5 April 1968) is a British journalist for BBC News. He has been the BBC's Moscow correspondent almost continuously since 2003, except for a stint as Berlin correspondent between 2006 and 2010. In 2022 Rosenberg's role in Moscow was expanded and he was appointed the BBC's Russia editor. Early life Steven Barnett Rosenberg was born on 5 April 1968 in Epping and grew up in Chingford, East London. He is Jewish. John Kennedy O'Connor (born 1964) is a television and radio broadcaster, author and entertainment commentator. He was born in North London, but is a naturalized citizen of the United States. Phil "The Collector" Swern (born Anthony Philip Swern, 30 June 1948) is an English radio producer and music collector, who earned the nickname "The Collector" from working on ''Sounds of the 60s'' with Brian Matthew. Born in Ealing, London, he was formerly a record producer and songwriter, and has also written for television. He produced ''Pick of the Pops'' for Radio 1 in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and has produced the show along with Tom Du Crozfor Radio 2 since 1997. Paddy O'Connell
Guy Patrick O'Connell (born 11 March 1966 in Guildford, Surrey) is an English television and radio presenter, working mainly for the BBC. BBC Three is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. Oslo
