''Poor Little Rich Girl'', advertised as ''The Poor Little Rich Girl'', is a 1936 American musical film directed by Irving Cummings. The screenplay by Sam Hellman, Gladys Lehman, and Harry Tugend was based on stories by Eleanor Gates and Ralph Spence, and the 1917 Mary Pickford vehicle of the same name. The film focuses on a child (Temple) neglected by her rich and busy father. She meets two vaudeville performers and becomes a radio singing star. Gladys Lehman
Gladys Lehman (born Gladys Collins) was a prolific American screenwriter who had a long career in Hollywood. Biography Lehman was born in Gates, Oregon, to James Collins and Lois Gates. She was the eldest of the couple's four children, and she attended Wardner-Kellogg High School in Idaho. As a college student, she was initiated into Gamma Phi Beta sorority at the Xi chapter at the University of Idaho. She later attended the University of California. She married Benjamin Lehman, an author and English professor at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1915; the pair had two sons (one who died as an infant) but divorced in the 1920s. Tyler Brooke
Tyler Brooke (born Victor Hugo de Bierre, June 6, 1886 – March 2, 1943) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1915 and 1943. He was born in New York, New York and died in Los Angeles, California by committing suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. Before he became an entertainer, Brooke was a bank clerk and an attorney. He began on the stage at the Globe Theatre, New York City in 1912. He went to Los Angeles in 1925 with '' No, No, Nanette'' as a comedian and was captured for screen. John Wray (born John Griffith Malloy; February 13, 1887 – April 5, 1940) was an American character actor of stage and screen. Career Wray was one of the many Broadway actors to descend on Hollywood in the aftermath of the sound revolution, and quickly appeared in a variety of substantial character roles, such as the Arnold Rothstein-like gangster in '' The Czar of Broadway'' (1930); Himmelstoss, the sadistic drill instructor in ''All Quiet on the Western Front'' (1930); and as the contortionist the Frog in the remake of '' The Miracle Man'' (1932), in the role previously played by Lon Chaney in the 1919 original. Henry Armetta (born Enrico Armetta; July 4, 1888 – October 21, 1945) was an American character actor who appeared in at least 150 American films, beginning in silent movies. His last film was released posthumously in 1946, the year after his death. Biography Armetta was born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. At the age of 14, he stowed away on a boat to America. The immigration authorities were prepared to send him back, but he found an Italian family to act as his sponsor. Arthur Hoyt (March 19, 1874 – January 4, 1953) was an American film character actor who appeared in more than 275 films in his 34-year film career, about a third of them silent films.
