Pontevedra Public Library
The Public Library of Pontevedra Antonio Odriozola located in Pontevedra ( Spain) is the provincial state library in the province of Pontevedra and is part of the Public Library Network of Galicia and the State Public Library Network (BPE). Its management has been transferred to the Autonomous Community of Galicia through the Department of Culture of the Galician Government. It is dedicated to Antonio Odriozola Pietas (1911–1987), who was born in Vitoria. He settled in Pontevedra in 1964, where he carried out much of his work as a bibliographer, researcher and erudite. Pontevedra (, ) is a Spanish city in the north-west of the Iberian Peninsula. It is the capital of both the ''Comarca'' (County) and Province of Pontevedra, and of the Rías Baixas in Galicia. The Diario de Pontevedra is a Spanish newspaper published in the city of Pontevedra since 1968, owned since 1999 by the ''El Progreso'' group, which also publishes ''El Progreso'' de Lugo. Mendoza Mansion
The Mendoza mansion is a building located between Santa María Avenue and Arzobispo Malvar Street, at the western end of the old town of Pontevedra (Galicia, Spain). It is currently the headquarters of the Rias Bajas Tourist Office. History The medieval castle of the Churruchaos (or Archbishops of Santiago de Compostela) and the Archbishop's Towers, whose interpretation centre (CITA) is located nearby, once stood on the site of the manor. In 1877, Soledad Méndez Núñez, sister of the famous sailor Casto Méndez Núñez, bought the land and commissioned the architect Alejandro Rodríguez Sesmero to build the mansion. ''Valle-Inclán'', is a sculpture created by the Spanish sculptor César Lombera, located in Pontevedra (Spain). It is located in Plaza Méndez Núñez and was inaugurated on 26 June 2003. History At the beginning of the 21st century, Pontevedra City Council decided to install a monument to the writer Ramón María del Valle-Inclán in the city because of his great relationship with Pontevedra and to compensate for the removal, in 1952, of a bust of this universal writer from the gardens of the Palm Trees Park, which was donated to the municipality of A Pobra do Caramiñal.
