Ponduru is a census town in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The town is the mandal headquarters of Ponduru mandal in Srikakulam revenue division. It falls under the Amadalavalasa Assembly Constituency and Srikakulam Loksabha Constituency. It is at a distance of from the district headquarters. Population Ponduru town has total population of 12,640 of which 6,111 are males while 6,529 are females as per the report released by Census India 2011. Ponduru railway station is a railway station on Khurda Road–Visakhapatnam section, part of the Howrah–Chennai main line under Waltair railway division of East Coast Railway zone. It is situated at Ponduru in Srikakulam district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. History In between 1893 and 1896, the coastal railway track from Cuttack Junction railway station, Cuttack to Vijayawada Junction railway station, Vijayawada was built and opened to traffic by East Coast State Railway. Chowdary Satyanarayana (July 13, 1908 – July 15, 1981), also known as Jananayaka Chowdary Satyanarayana was an Indian freedom fighter, anti-colonial nationalist, politician, legislator in Andhra Pradesh Assembly (1955–62, 1967–72) and a civil rights activist. Born and raised in a Hindu Zamindar family who belongs to Kalinga community, was from Srikakulam, a coastal district in Andhra Pradesh. The Khurda Road–Visakhapatnam section is a railway line connecting in the Indian state of Odisha and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The main line is part of the Howrah–Chennai main line. Devdas Gandhi
Devdas Mohandas Gandhi (22 May 1900 – 3 August 1957) was the fourth and youngest son of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born in the Colony of Natal and came to India with his parents as a grown man. He became active in his father's movement, spending many terms in jail. He also became a prominent journalist, serving as editor of Hindustan Times.
