International Polytechnic High School
International Polytechnic High School, commonly abbreviated merely as iPoly, is a public college-preparatory demonstration high school (9-12) located on the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) campus and operated by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) in conjunction with the College of Education and Integrative Studies at the university. iPoly's curriculum is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is approved by the University of California and California State University. It maintains a unique affiliation with the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), which is also run by LACOE. Polytechnic School, often referred to simply as Poly, is a college preparatory private day school located in Pasadena, California with approximately 850 students enrolled in grades Kindergarten through 12. The school is a former member of the G20 Schools group. History The school was founded in 1907 as the first non-profit, independent school in Southern California. It descends from the Throop Polytechnic Institute founded by Amos G. Throop, the same institution that grew into the present California Institute of Technology. In the spring of 1907, the Institute decided to focus on the college level and closed the grammar school. Citrus tycoon and noted eugenicist Ezra S. Gosney donated $12,500, a sum matched by twelve other donors. This money allowed them to purchase the property at the present site, originally an orange grove. The current facility, located on Victoria Avenue, was opened in September 1965; the traditions of the school go back to 1887, then known as the Riverside High School, making Riverside Polytechnic the oldest high school in the city. San Francisco Polytechnic High School was a public secondary school in San Francisco, California. Located from 1912 at 701 Frederick Street, across from Kezar Stadium, the school was in operation from 1884 until 1973. History The school opened in 1884 as the Commercial School, on Powell Street between Clay and Sacramento. It subsequently moved to Bush and Stockton Streets. Academic subjects were added to the curriculum in 1890 and art and shop in 1895, when it was renamed San Francisco Polytechnic High School. The building was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake, and replaced in 1911 by a classical revival building on Frederick Street, which opened in 1915; a "manual and shop training" building facing Carl Street opened in 1912. Polytechnic High School, also known colloquially as "Poly", is a public high school located in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. History The Polytechnic Heights community originally grew around the Manchester Cotton Mill and merged with the city of Fort Worth in 1922. The first school associated with the Manchester community was formed in 1886 and replaced by a new, expanded Polytechnic Heights School in 1907. The class of 1912, Polytechnic's first graduating class, had just eleven students. In 1923, now part of the Fort Worth Public Schools, Polytechnic moved to an even larger building at 1202 Nashville Street, and the old building became an elementary school.
