Anita Pollitzer
Anita Lily Pollitzer (October 31, 1894 – July 3, 1975) was an American photographer and suffragist. Early life and education Anita Lily Pollitzer was born October 31, 1894, in Charleston, South Carolina. Her parents were Clara Guinzburg Pollitzer, the daughter of an immigrant rabbi from Prague, and Gustave Pollitzer, who ran a cotton company at Charleston, South Carolina. She had two sisters, Carrie (born 1881) and Mabel (born 1885) and a brother, Richard. Anita was raised Jewish and, as a young woman, taught Sabbath school in Charleston at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim. She was later a "nonobservant" Jew and relied upon her own personal strength, rather than reliance on religion. In response to her sister Mabel, who said in prayer, "God gave me mountains to climb and the strength to climb them," Anita's response was, "I don’t want God to give me mountains to climb…I want to find my own." Adolf Pollitzer
Adolf Pollitzer, also Adolph Pollitzer ( hu, Pollitzer Adolf; 23 July 1832 – 14 November 1900) was a Hungarian Jewish violinist. Biography Pollitzer was born in Pest, Hungary. In 1842, he left Pest for Vienna, where he studied the violin under Joseph Böhm at the Vienna Conservatory; and in his 14th year he took the first prize at the Conservatory. After a concert tour in Germany, he went to Paris and studied under Jean-Delphin Alard. In 1850 he crossed the Channel, and in London his remarkable talents as a violinist were recognized after a short time. He became leader at Her Majesty's Theatre under Sir Michael Costa and also led the new Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Choral Society. Pollitzer was a preeminent in his day as an interpreter of classic chamber-music, his playing attaining to what may be called "the great style". Louis Treumann
Louis Treumann (born Alois Pollitzer, 3 March 1872 – 5 March 1943) was an Austrian actor and operetta tenor. Born in Vienna, was the son of Jewish merchants. He spent his twenties working backstage and in smaller roles, before achieving his breakthrough in 1902 in Franz Lehár's ' opposite Mizzi Günther. In 1905 he created the role of Count Danilo Danilovitsch in Lehár's ''The Merry Widow, Die lustige Witwe'' (''The Merry Widow''). During the second half of the 1920s he appeared in several films, such as ''Der Rastelbinder'' (1927), ''Flucht in die Fremdenlegion'' (1929), ''Play Around a Man, Spiel um den Mann'' (1929), ''Trust of Thieves, Trust der Diebe'' (1929), ''Katharina Knie (film), Katharina Knie'' (1929) and ''Die Warschauer Zitadelle'' (1930).
